Usyk will only be a year and 10 months younger than when Wlad fought Fury

Fury saved the fans with that move. What about that fight would make anyone want to watch them do it again?
I'm really sick of "I lost so I deserve a rematch" maybe it was in the contract, but those rematch clauses are ruining the sport for the fans.

With fighters only fighting like once or twice a year, I'd prefer these slots are not wasted on rematches. Rematches should be for fights like Gatti Ward where it was so exciting the fans demand to see it again.

Usyk suffered far less damage during his career and does not have as many professional fights.

 

Difference is Usyk isn't on the back end of a gradual three year mental decline following the passing of his beloved trainer.

Also, with all due respect to Dr. Steelhammer, the Cat is just a finer athlete than he was. He can probably maintain top form into his early 40s.

I was a Wlad fan at the time, so of course I wanted to watch it. The second fight would probably look different. And I'm one of the fans that actually enjoyed boxing chess in the original match.

 

It was a good tactical battle, but Fury edged every round pretty much, Wlad just didn't look interested at all.

As far as HW fights go it's not a very good advert.

Fury has been a drug addicted, food addicted heavy drinker for much of his career. He also had 3 years of inactivity. Even Ali never looked the same after his exile

This! And if anyone deserved to get a rematch it was Wladimir. FFS he was the longest reigning HW champion in history! And Fury just crapped on that opportunity and fell into “Mental Health and addiction issues” which I’m not doubting! But ****… picked a fine time to fall into that!

I still think Wlad KO’s him in the rematch. Woulda picked up where he left off in the 12th. And added to it.

 

He looked very interested and frustrated. Hence the heafbutt. He was just outclassed.

 

Fury is physically at least 55 years old.

To be fair, Joe Louis was the longest reigning heavyweight champion. Wlad was right there in the second place. But I mostly agree with your take.
