The script of him outpointing Fury in a boxing masterclass is now in the bin. In his latest interview, Usyk made it clear how he thought Fury overstepped the line when getting physical at the presser. Usyk doesn't care about mind games and trash talking at all. He considers these things as part of the show and necessary for the build up (not for himself but for other fighters). But when Fury touched him and tried to push him with his head, in Usyk's world, that thing strictly belongs to the ring on fight night. That's why he stood his ground and showed he was not to be messed with. He added: he is always ready to fight so the next time Fury touches him before fight night, there will be consequences. Not many know that Usyk is quite an experienced street fighter as well so he is comfortable fighting outside of the ring too. That's not his aim, but if Fury doesn't stick to his "trash talk and selling the fight before fight night, getting physical only on fight night" rule, it will be on. There is this phenomenon that @Serge likes to refer to as Dark Usyk. Usyk usually doesn't go for the KO - but whenever he was disrespected in a physical way (shoved by Huck before the fight for instance), he always took revenge in the ring and went for the KO. I think he wants to knock Fury out now. In before the usual suspects come with the half-cooked "how could Usyk knock Fury out when Wilder couldn't do it" thing - knocking your opponent out is not just about one punch power. Usyk can absolutely knock Fury out by tiring him until the late rounds and finishing him off by accumulation of punishment. Remember Bellew when he said it's not that Usyk's punch has that much pop to it but he tires you out with his constant movement and work rate, makes you miss while lands constantly and it just all adds up over time. You get exhausted and then he chins you. Bellew claimed he was never as tired in his life as he was after seven rounds against Usyk and he had never even seen the shot that took him out. Fury will be taken to deep waters he never experienced before and will feel the punishing rage of Dark Usyk. This content is protected
Maybe. Maybe Fury's trying to get him to fight more aggressively to create some openings to exploit... Whether he actually can or not is another question altogether. But you could well be right - Usyks movement and workrate are something Fury hasn't dealt with before, and could find very difficult... Especially if he's not completely fit, which he was nowhere near against Ngannou.
Man couldn't knock out a gassed Chisora or AJ or Gassiev or Briedies is going to magically KO Fury This content is protected
Usyk staggered both Chisora and Aj on multiple occasions. It is not improbable that Usyk could land a similar shot on Jelly, causing significant damage and allowing for a potential finish.
None of them disrespected him the way Fury did therefore the intention wasn’t there. But this is personal now for him. He wants to teach Fury a lesson. You’ll see in February.
Exactly. He deliberately didn’t go for the kill against Chisora, he talked about that. He is not keen on knocking people out if he doesn’t have to. But this is personal now. Fury will fall.
Rubbish them kind of emotions play no part in a boxing match. If Fury could make Usyk more aggressive just by touching his soft belly in a presser he'd be laughing to the bank. Fury could kick his dog and nuke Ukraine and it wouldn't change what Usyk could or will do in that ring Fury is the one doing the battering. Usyk is going to run rabbit run because that's his path to victory. This fight is going to look like Amir Khan Vs Danny Garcia
I've seen you posted just recently that if Usyk wins, the mods should ban you. I support the notion and will make sure to remind the mods on 17th February.
You also gotta factor in their chins as well. It's not like we're talking about guys who get knocked down every other fight. They're all pretty sturdy, so them not getting knocked down or out by Usyk doesn't really say anything bad pertaining to his power. Especially when you consider the fact that Usyk did have all of them buzzed at some point. Usyk's not a one punch knockdown kinda guy and never has been, nor will he ever be, but he's certainly got enough pop to keep people humble at the very least. Far from the pillow fists some folks seem to think he has. Like you said in the initial post, if Usyk does KO Fury, and that's a hell of a lot more likely than the opposite in my opinion, it's gonna come from an accumulation of damage down the stretch. Fury's shown great recovery skills for sure, but you gotta remember those have been from one punch knockdowns happening early on or in fights where he got to set the pace against slow guys or ones who gassed out at some point. Getting put down late in a fight where you've been kept busy by a guy who still has several miles left on the gas tank is a whole other story.
Maybe not, but let's not kid ourselves that Dubois showed less heart than Bogan Dinu when things got rough. Usyk stops you by landing lots of solid, flush punches when you are tiring. That's going to stop a lot of fighters, but he's not likely to punch a fresh fighter out with a single shot. I don't think Fury has a suspect chin. Sure he's been down a few times...but he's recovered quickly each time. Fury - at his best - would have a shot IF he can drape himself over Usyk like a big, fleshy overcoat and make him carry his weight. But there's a good chance Fury's best is past due to mileage, dissolute living, lack of commitment, or a combination of all three. Usyk will be past his 37th birthday if the two fight in Ferburary, but he doesn't look like getting old overnight quite yet.
Usyk's priority will be to win the fight and he will play the percentages. No chance does he go in looking for a KO just because of something that was said. Same thing applies to Fury. These guys aren't amongst the best because they are hotheads who get suckered into blowing it.
I could see real menace in Usyk's eyes after Belly tried to bully him I could also see during that ''Do Not Touch me'' interview yesterday that when he said ''I'm ready. I'm ready to fight always! Everytime! Every night, everytime, I'm ready to fight'' that he really meant it. Just because Usyk is a lovable, humble, respectful and very jocular and amiable guy and he chooses to conduct himself in a professional manner don't let it lull you into a false sense of security that he's not a stone cold killer if you disrespect him or cross the line. This content is protected Aside from the fact he's one of the toughest and most fearless fighters in the game, the best boxer in the sport in most sane fan's opinion, he comes from a rough place and has seen and been through a lot. This is Dark Usyk. Look at how much pleasure he derives from punishing Huck after he disrespected him. He's getting high off his own sadism This content is protected
