Who did Usyk beat who boxed like a "prime Ali?"

You can nitpick about the slight differences in Karl and Usyk's style. It served Karl well. He won nearly three times as many pro fights as Usyk.

But that's how a Prime Ali would approach Usyk. That's the point of posting it.

Meanwhile, no one has shown how Usyk beat ANYONE like a Prime Ali.

Because, it appears Usyk has never beaten anyone with a style similar to a Prime Ali.

Ali never fought anyone like Usyk, and even if Mildenberger had three times as many wins as Usyk, he wasn't a third as good.

Having a large amount of wins doesn't make a fighter better than one who has less. I mean, how could a guy like De La Hoya with his 21 wins beat someone like Chavez with his 96?

Ali had the same reach a Usyk has.

Well, entering the ring with a huge slice across his forehead that he incurred in sparring and opened up the minute he got hit there certainly helped the young Oscar.

And Karl Mildenberger was the #1 heavyweight contender and rated there by Ring. Usyk, himself, has only been rated the #1 rated heavyweight for a couple months. He was rated 10th when he fought Joshua.

I think a "third as good" is a little over the top.

Regardless, the point is how does Usyk deal with a prime Ali's footspeed, lateral movement, fast punches, and great chin. And which Usyk is the OP talking about? Current Usyk, the 34-year-old who beat Joshua? Some cruiserweight version?

And how did Usyk ever deal with a guy who boxed similarly to prime Ali?

We see how Ali dealt with it. Stayling off the ropes. Moving side to side all the time. Throwing lead rights. Catching him coming in.

I don't think watching Usyk against Gassiev or Glowacki shows us anything as to how he'd do against Ali.

If Mildenberger doesn't "scream" Usyk ... Glowacki sure as hell doesn't scream Prime Ali.

Usyk is more skilled than anyone Ali fought.

Name me one heavyweight that would have been rated above Usyk that year if he fought in the 60`s? It was hardly a great list.

You guys are going down a semantics hole.

How does Usyk beat a guy as skilled as a prime Ali. Ali beats Usyk by staying off the ropes, constantly circling, throwing lead right hands, moving side to side all the time so he isn't cornered, keeping the fight at a distance ... like he did against the top-rated Mildenberger.

    How does Usyk beat Ali?

Someone please post a clip of Usyk doing anything to someone who remotely fights like a prime Ali that shows how Usyk beats Ali. Because I can't see Usyk doing anything of the sort. Visual aids help.

    ;)

I don't give ****, Mark. This isn't a who is better, Usyk or Mildenberger thread.

Mildenberger fought like Usyk and that's how Ali dealt with him. Mildenberger wasn't a bum. He was rated #1 at heavyweight. How did Usyk deal with a fighter who fought similarly to a prime Ali?

    * If USYK has never fought anyone like Ali and never beat anyone who boxed like that ...

    * And none of you can even say how Usyk would do it ...

    * And none of you can post of a video of Usyk beating anyone with similar skills ...

    Then I can't buy it.

Yes, but Ali was rangier because of his footwork and the way that he used his jab.

I was wondering, are you the one that posted a couple of years ago how Joshua would knock out Muhammed Ali? This is as ridiculous as that was so I thought they could be related.

Someone give me a nudge when anyone saying Usyk wins gives any indication how he does so.

Ali didn`t look that great to me, pretty sharp, pretty fast with bad fundamentals a good punch and great chin.

    This.
Ali is way faster, both hand and feet, and more powerful
I give Usyk little chance. He’ll be eating jabs and fast rights all night long (and uppercuts if he tries to duck under the jabs). His face may well get pretty badly busted up. All the while struggling to get past the jab and so struggle to get the range and not land too much. When he does land his power will do nothing.
I mean it will be fairly competitive in a technical sense, but Ali will land too often with whipping punches he can’t escape from to bust up and cut him pretty badly. A 50/50 possibility of a stoppage on cuts or comfy points win by Ali.
