Needs another fight at heavyweight against a meaningful opponent before getting in with Wilder/Joshua.
He doesn't need it ,but he would be highly advised to take one. He carried this guy ,who was actually not that bad but HW vs CW is different world if you aren't a one shot power guy and we saw it here. Usyk was significantly slower with 15 pounds more BUT at Hw more effective. Posters better realize and know the current speed punchers who weigh a lot aren't that slow ,AJ is Slow right ? lol Joshua knocks Usyk out in 3 rnds tonight, Usyk probably knows it now to . Tonights fight though made him that more dangerous,he got his rnds in and hopefully takes another one bf fighting AJ bc he wont win . Like I said vs Wilder 50/50 fight the other top guys ? He needs to adjust more.
Wilder stops my boy Witherspoon in one. Period. I learned a long time ago, don't make an assessment of entire division based on one opponent, namely a 1-2 week replacement. Hard to think one learned anything other than how patient & intelligent Uysk proved to be. When fighting someone who isn't top 50, let alone top 10. Usyk would do well to fight 2-3 times before uttering a champ's name. No shame in building his skillset and tiptoe his way into powerful hitters.
The only 'skill' Wilder has going for him is power. His only chance at beating Usyk would be by landing a lucky punch. Wilder would be outclassed then put to sleep like a rabid dog.
All the “He don’t got enough power!” talk is laughable. Do these same dolts that say that think Chris Byrd hit as hard as Usyk?? You really think Byrd would have laid out Bellew and knocked the fight out of Witherspoon?? Did Chris Byrd need devastating power to KEEP THE POWERFUL TUA OFF HIM?? Tua had a better chin and hit harder than Wilder and Joshua. Did Byrd need thudding power to out box Holyfield who was stronger and more powerful than him?? Exactly. And Usyk is a better boxer than Byrd.
That's my point! A one trick pony got the belt when all the Povetkins, Millers were around. Makes it all the more mad that he got the belt , still has the belt. Reverse the question sir: Who hasn't embarrassed him, until they got caught?! LMAO!!
They don't fight alike for one. But when Holy moved up to HW, yeah, he would've stopped Witherspoon before his corner, because that is what he did with 3 HW fights within one year of his final CW fight. At this point he doesn't have that HW power. Doesn't mean he cant get a title. It's just making an assessment of where is power is at when moving up.
This thread was made during the second round by the way. Check the time. This weren’t a “lack of power” thread although I’ve since agreed that he needs more. Obviously he completely outclassed Witherspoon but the likes of Joshua/Wilder/Dubois take him out of there in 1 or 2. Usyk did however dismantle him slowly, bit by bit and that was great but I think he needs to try it vs another top heavyweight first but jumping in with the top 5. I think Parker is ideal.
His face looked kind of sad... Looked like he wasn't taking his opponent seriously for half of the fight, and he was trying to create a big drama show, he carried Witherspoon the last 2 rounds... but whatever... I think he's got way more potential, and we haven't seen the best HW Usyk quite yet.
Hey @GALVATRON now Usyk is at heavyweight with his win over Witherspoon has he finally surpassed Trey Lippe? Remember you said Lippe was going to have the better career than Usyk.......how’s that working out so far?
Good comeback fight for Usyk, thought he looked good in there at a new weight, change in opponent and after a long layoff. The US commentary was ****ing horrendous.
Well... no **** they don’t fight anything alike. Lol Usyk is better, stronger and hits harder. I was making the point that you don’t need devastating power to sting these HW’s enough to keep them in check. And Usyk was coming off the longest layoff of his career and adjusting to the last minute opponent who he wasn’t training for. He whooped the **** out of Witherspoon. And he didn’t need HGH or PED’s to do it
There are many ways Usyk can beat Wilder and Joshua, conversely, they only have one avenue to beating Usyk, and that's by KO. That gives him an advantage. Not saying he can win or take those big punches, but he made a HW quit tonight.
