With the proliferation of Deontay Wilder threads that have popped up after this weekend's demolition of Robert Helenius, I have read quite a few times that Wilder could beat any heavyweight other than Fury and Usyk. We know why people don't think he would beat Fury and I think it is obvious that Usyk's skills are far beyond that of Wilder's. What I don't have any knowledge of is Usyk's ability to take a punch. Has he been caught flush very often? Has he been wobbled? I just don't know much about his punch resistance.

Going 24 rounds with Joshua is enough to prove his chin is okay.

AJ landed several horrendously brutal straight rights flush on Usyk in the rematch, and he wasn't even buckled. So based on that, it's pretty goddamn solid.

    Iron.

Usyk has taken punches from Joshua and Gassiev in the pros, Joyce in the semi-pros, and Majidov in the amateurs. Wilder is not that big of a step up in power, if at all.

    Usyk will win handily.

The most damage ever done to him was a body shot by Beterbiev in the amateurs.

Usyk might very well have the best chin at heavyweight, maybe Joyce is the only one that is comparable. He doesn't get hit much, due to his defensive skills but when he does take a huge shot he takes it well.

I don't think even Wilder could keep him down, hell Wilder might not be even able to drop him. If they ever fight Usyk dismantles him and stops him. Wilder won't win a round.

Usyk's chin isn't a concern. Body shots are the only thing that have bothered him much in the past, and Wilder ain't known for body shots.

I think Usyk has a decent to good chin, but it isn't good enough to withstand Wilders power. He should be able to outbox Wilder and avoid getting nailed but it will be a tight rope act, one slip and he'd get laid out.

He's fought more punchers and KO artists in his last 10 fights than any other world champion I can think of

    AJ x 2
    Gassiev
    Briedis
    Chisora
    Bellew
    Glowacki
    Huck
    Hunter

    And even Witherspoon can crack

Only 1 of like his previous 15 victims lasted the distance

''He is the first man in the history of the Golden Gloves to win the National Title by all stoppages''

    Usyk 211lbs - Nistor 233lbs
    Usyk 213lbs - Modugno 277lbs
    Usyk 210lbs - Majidov 235lbs
    Usyk 211lbs - Joyce 238lbs
    Usyk 209lbs - Brechlin 263lbs
    Usyk 208lbs - Fa 246lbs

Beterbiebv x 3 and lots of other big punchers in the amateurs

But he's never been down from a head shot

It's comical anyone could even question his chin. Never been dropped by a head shot in like 370 fights am and pro and he's fought a ton of not just punchers but savage punching KO artists

How many punchers have P4P top 5 ranked Crawford and Spence fought, especially their own size? The answer is barely any. They've been hurt, badly hurt or in Terry's case badly hurt and dropped numerous times but more people question Usyk's chin than they do theirs? WTF?! Brainwashed beyond belief

Usyk is rather good at avoiding big punishment, so how hard his chin for the heavyweight is under question, but is decently tested on cruiser. So good enough, but can't say it's so amazing so far.

Fury was dropped heavily by KO 32% CW Cunningham, dropped by KO 27% HW Pajkic, and badly hurt and almost dropped by KO 24% HW Firtha, Usyk was never hurt by AJ, Gassiev, Briedis, Chisora, Majidov, Joyce, Nistor, Bellew, Huck, Glowacki, Huck etc.

But Fury has a much better chin than Usyk :risas3:

Usyk has an amazing chin by the looks of it.
But Wilder's power just seems like a ridiculous outlier at this point, and shady.
So I would not be confident of Usyk taking a flush bomb on the chin or temple from Wilder.
I always thought this was a dangerous fight because although Usyk is far better, Wilder can probably stick around quite a while and that gives him a chance to land the big one. He's also faster and rangier than a lot of the big punchers Usyk has fought.
I think this matchup is similar to the Fury Wilder one and Usyk could have the same problems Fury had, dominating but always being a moment away from being floored.

I've never thought Fury had a great chin either, his recovery powers on the other hand are top notch.

Guys, chin and recovery goes hand to hand, there's no way for a scenerio where you can't take a punch, but you recover well - makes no sense. While takin a hard punch, but recover enough from, so to continue a fight means that your "chin" (while all this time we talk mainly about the brain and the vestibular system). And fighting cruisers isn't the same as fighting heavies. A knockdown means nothing when you're undefeated, not too hard to realize that.
