Usyks eyes...

He looks like The Kurgan from Highlander. Even if you didn't know he was a top level elite level boxer, with his size and that look in his eyes, you would just know he is someone not to be messed with.

Plus his power is underrated due to his style. But when he sits down on his shots he can clearly dig and he has been seen to stun big super heavyweights when he competed in the WSB.

Na he's too physically gifted for that. Only weak frail men do that.

 

He has lovely eyes, as deep and blue as the atlantic ocean.

 

Strikes me as fearless and on a mission, he's gonna catch on with fans I think and be what Bellew calls him, "A Superstar" !

Bellew calling people Superstar as some sort of mind game when he's the one going on movies and dangling 30ft in the air on some chat show.

Bellew will be seething inside at how well usyk handled him in the presser and how popular usyk is going to be with british fans. I can see bellew getting booed before ling.

 

Usyk was funny in that stare down. I think we have to remember that Bellew has to get himself in a state that he hates his opponent and that he’s the underdog and wrote off. That idea motivates him and gets him through the training camps.

I’m a huge fan of Usyk but I want Bellew to win, and believe he is savvy enough to cause him problems. You can’t write him off, he is a quality boxer.

 

It's very rare that I don't want a Brit to win against a foreigner. But I can't help it with this one. I'm a huge fan of Usyk and like everything about him. I'm firmly on the Usyk train and I don't want it to stop yet. So my perfect outcome would be an Usyk win but Bellew giving him a right good fight that he has his moments in and comes away with a lot of credit for his performance.

 

The best thing about Usyk today was that he wasn't taking any of Bellew's bull****. He wasn't going to bite like so many have done before including Haye etc.

Bellew tried to do what he always does in the head-to-head, talk crap thinking he's getting into his opponents head.

Usyk just laughed it off. The best way to deal with Bellew is just to laugh at him and not take anything he says seriously. Usyk knows he's the boss here.

There are levels to boxing, Usyk knows this more than most.

 

Quick breakdown for me.

First of all I picked Haye to beat Bellew in the first fight. I'll be honest I didn't realise the extent of his injuries, so got that well and truely wrong.

After that though it was clear to see Haye sparring for the second fight he had no where recovered from his injury from the first fight, let alone any others.

First of all I think people are getting carried away with Bellews power though. He didnt spark Haye out in one punch in either fight and in the second fight Haye couldn't even put weight properly on his leg, clear as day to see so he really couldn't absorb the shots, yet he still managed to get up twice.

People seem to gloss over the fact it took
him 5 rounds to take out Haye after his leg went in the first fight also, or the fact he was starting to lose rounds against Haye until his leg went.

His Makubu KO was great (a great career highlight considering it was at Goodison Park and for a world title), but Makubu basically stood back to the ropes and tried to swing back wildlt, when he clearly should of held. Not Tonys problem but you have to put it into context a little, how inexperienced Makubu was in that situation.

What I mean is it gets overated, it's not like he caught him by moving him into a shot, he was there to be hit.

He beat BJ Flores by KO but it again wasnt a one punch shot and how good was BJ flores even at that point in his career?

He fought Cleverley twice and couldn't stop him at Cruiser. Another fight people seem to gloss over following his Haye wins.

Fought Masternak who is good but who is overall Euro level (imo), I think I scored it to Bellew by a round at the time.

His first fight at Cruiser against Brudov he nearly was stopped if not for a low-blow.

I know he has a great boxing IQ but being able to actually do what you say is completely different. Take aside the Haye fights, because he clearly had inside knowledge of Hayes injuries, what opponents has he thoroughly outboxed at a world class level? I know he wasn't at his best at LHW in his latest fights, but I'd of still expected to see it at some point there.

Then you have Usyk who has just fought two fighters in there prime, who are truely world class in Breidis and Gassiev and beaten both comfortably (the briedis fight was close until he pulled away) with great boxing skills. Both of those guys I think punch far harder then Tony.

Tony could win like any boxer, I just think people are vastly overating him because of his Haye wins.

I believe him when he says he doesn't fear Usyk. It's going to be his last fight and he knows his legacy is there with his World title win at Goodison and 2 x Haye wins. So he really hasn't got anything to worry about.

Actually beating Usyk is a completely different kettle of fish though!
