Excellent post highlighting the difference's of tactics between both the Bellew & AJ fight's, Briedis also had some moments due to what you stated being the smaller fighter with faster hands & such, etc.
He did, Usyk went down from a punch @3:54 but for some reason the ref was a massive d*ck rider and didn’t count it. This content is protected It was a punch behind the head but the ref didn’t give any warning for it so it should be counted. Usyk didn’t act hurt but he was staying away the rest of the round so it’s pretty safe to say he wanted to clear his head.
It is not that you don't have a point...in fact, I think it is simpler than all of that...Usyk often just gives away the first couple of rounds while timing the southpaw jab over his opponents orthodox jab. Nonetheless, as AJ was never ahead at any point, there simply isn't any rational for justifying Joshua over Bellew. Rationalize it any way you like.
It's easy to rationalize. Usyks gameplan was to never let Aj get any rounds in because they didn't want to risk it being close. Usyk was laboring hard right out of the gate to get ahead early against AJ. He was putting a lot more effort into that fight and he took more punishment in that fight than he did against Bellew. I'm not giving Bellew a bunch of credit for winning a couple rounds early when Usyk clearly wasn't worried about dropping a few rounds in order to get Bellews timing down.
Well yes, again, I don't disagree with you, but it is still an interpretation/rationalization/explanation/speculation, etc. For whatever reason, Bellew did better than AJ. I'll let you have the last word because I am not trying to sway you, I am just telling you why I see it the way I see it. Hunter is not a bad call. It may actually be, in my estimation... Briedis Hunter Bellew AJ Chisora I would have to rewatch the Bellew fight to be sure.
I suspect thr Chisora fight was a chance to not look good and get the AJ fight. Briedis was his toughest.
Thank god you are not a judge. Chisora won 4 rounds at most. The best you could argue for Briedis was a draw and even that would have been generous.
I had both AJ/ Briedis winning 4 rounds and I had Bellew and Chisora winning 3 rounds. Gassiev was a shutout schooling.
It is what it is. I have no problem with Usyk getting the win as it was a close fight, but I had it a draw.
