DeGale is not what he used to be

He there for the taking, a lot of damage lately...

A lot of talk that he lacks dedication & loves his mary jane. Gets lazy between bouts

    Uzcategui has too much pressure+power...

Only outcome is he wins via TKo

DeGale, to his credit-ish, at the very least knows how to not get KOd. So I'd predict Uzcategui via wiiiiiiide UD if it happens. If DeGale has any sense left he should be posting the 20k fee for a mandatory exemption immediately on the ground that he cashes out fights the WBSS winner in a unification some time in the fall.

Assuming it's Groves (whom I think beats Callum Smith) then that will be a nice retirement fund for DeGale. Titlist or not he's done at the top level. He'd get absolutely savaged by El Bandera Roja.

Never even heard of Utz pre Korobov except as a prospect beat Porky.
And even after the great display of craft by Korobov that night, Utz made me an instant fan.
    Grit and dig and heart.

Dirrel just can't take shots anymore. Like from fragile to paper meche.

But Utz can wear out DeGale may be get dropped a time or two, but wear JD down then take him out

Uzi seems much improved recently. I would make him a huge favourite over de gale. He is all wrong for James.

Uzcat is the truth. I love the bounce and he punches through his opponent.
In my eyes, he's fav over all the 168.

Can you elaborate on that 20k mandatory fee, you mentioned?

Do you mean DeGale will have to pay that as a means of by-passing his mandatory in favour of a unification bout?

Uzcategai is an awesome fighter. Enjoyed him bashing Dirrell in (twice). Def would pick him to beat DeGale. But why do I smell some sort of money fight aka cash out aka "knows he's gonna lose" DeGale goes after next? Might be extreme but I'll put some pure speculative chance of a Froch comeback.

IBF is strict with their mandos. Either DeGale vacates, or takes the fight.

IBF have a rule where you can apply for an exemption from your mandatory. The application has to be made before the mandatory goes to purse bids though and the cost of this application? You guessed it: 20 fat stacks.

    Only in boxing.

It's the reason Joshua wasn't stripped for trying to get a rematch with Wlad instead of fighting Pulev, but Fury was. Fury never applied to postpone the Glazkov fight so had to be stripped. It's bureaucracy at its most stupid if you ask me. Imagine if the rematch went ahead and Wlad won, the IBF would have to recognise Charles "the GAWD" Martin over their previous nine year reigning champ all because of blown knee and a lack of 20k.

Still the best option for DeGale to cash out though. He'd earn far more in a 50/50 split with Groves then he would pocketing 70% against some Venezuelan that most Brits have never heard of.

Degale will probably sell his belt to Eubank jr. or Groves and retire. clearly a shot fighter.
