V Klitschko vs Evander Holyfield circa 2009

Vitali hasn't beaten anybody but he's been consistently better than the B level boxers he faced so there's that. No ATG by any means but far from Valuev scrub tier. Wlad's got some okayish wins in Ibragimov, Chambers, Haye, Chagaev and Povetkin. This poor era had little else to offer but he took most of the threats on tbf.

They have no opponents in common during that time so it's tough to say. All I'm saying is that Valuev was awful and Holyfield beating him, despite being a remarkable achievement for his age, doesn't really indicate how he had fared against Vitali. Arguing over the outcome of a fight that didn't happen is pointless I feel.

 

Well, I don't think Vitali got a win that I'd rate higher than Valuev to begin with. It's tough. I see your point.

 

2004 Holyfield lost a shoutout UD to Larry Donald in 2004. Larry Donald got stopped by Vitali in 2002 without winning a SINGLE round. We're talking about a wide difference in class between mid-2000 Holyfield vs. Vitali.

2009 Vitali would destroy 2009 Holyfield who lacks the stamina and workrate to trouble Vitali. Watch the Valuev fight and you'll see how Holyfield gassed tremendoulsy after round 5 and couldn't put together a single combination anymore due to the lack of energy. All he had left was jumping on the spot trying to evade Valuev slow-as-molasses jabs. It was a farce.

holyman has no chance approaching 50.


Certinaly no walk in the park though, Evander will shutdown Vitali for about 5 rounds, after which he will gass, lose rounds, spoil and fight dirtier than Poppa Hopkins to grind to a close or SD points loss.

Prime Holyfield crushes both Klitschkos. If he can get through Bowe's jab he will get past the Klitschkos overrated jab. But 09 Evander was washed up - just like the majority of all the Klitschkos opponents. If they weren't washed up they were bum opponents like Haye Chisora Peter
