A check on what the best boxers from the Olympics have done as pros. It is a real mixed bag, some journeymen, some great fighters, some never turned pro.

Eastern Euros (or that region anyway) pitching a shut-out since Jirov in '96. Kazakhstan with 3/6 since then too, impressive.

Yeah, the Kazaks rarely leave the amateurs, I guess they get relatively rich there. Bivol and GGG are from there but neither one is ethnic.

Huh. Never knew two bronze medalists won it. That's pretty cool.

I rember Roberto Bolado from Cuba best. He would have been an unbelieveable pro heavyweight. He was a bigger James Toney. He beat Brian Nielsen 15-1 in the semis. Cassamayor, Savon, and De la Hoya won Gold that year but he was named the best. Died in a car accident in Cuba a few months after the olympics.

Many of those turned pro way past their prime, Wariunge for example turned pro after three olympic cycles.

I disagree with some of the picks for the best boxer in certain games, Jirov, Artayev and Saitov for example.

Balado was the most graceful super heavyweight I have seen.

3 world champions from that list. RJJ, Jriov and Loma.
