A person weighing 129 pounds loses about 52 calories in an hour whilst asleep. Quigg claimed he did 4 workouts and his weight didn't decrease. For it not to decrease he must have been consuming the equivalent calories he was burning.

He said his body "shut down" and refused to shed the last 3 lbs. strange.

My point is if he got to within 3 lbs of the weight, the foot injury can't have been a factor. If it was the foot he never would've got to within 3 lbs of 126 in the first place. So was it the foot preventing him shedding weight all along, or his body shutting down when it came to the last 3lbs?
When a guy comes out with 2 versions of a story I'm always a bit sceptical.

He was so huge in the ring it makes me wonder if it wasn't a deliberate tactic to steamroll Valdez with sheer size. He looked a stone bigger than Valdez in there. Really the rules about in-ring weight need to change and be rigidly enforced.
Big discrepancy in 2 boxers in-ring weight needs to be completely eliminated.

I'm sure the foot injury and his body refusing to move the weight are linked.

Our metabolisms are so damn complicated that if Quigg was exercising differently in the month before this fight than he was for all his other fights, then it's not too much of a stretch to say his body reacted differently.

Didn't he mention he did a lot more running in all his other camps? Just that could be enough of a switch. But considering he spends so much time in the gym it could just be the lack of overall intensity that did it. I imagine he took his extreme weight-cutting for granted after doing it so many times.

So he was happily eating in his sleep?

Hmmmm, That's what Bill Cosby claimed.

I suppose that's possible alright. I feel it's just his body aging and maturing....maybe he has simply grown too heavy naturally and will have to move to a heavier weight class.
Even if he can still make 126 with an injury free camp, if his performance is as poor as it was against Valdez, you have to wonder if he has a future at 126. His boxing was slow and his timing and accuracy was bad too.
Plus he looked so big in there.....

For a legendary super dedicated gym rat like Quigg to miss weight it's a bigger issue than if a Ricky Hatton type does it. I'd say he will have to move up.

Latest interview with IFL here. Haven’t had a chance to watch the whole thing.

Edit - just have. The absolute state of him. His brain must be in some dire straits.

The absolute state of YOU. What's with all the personal attacks on Quigg on here from more than one poster? So what if he doesn't speak like a bbc newsreader or a college professor. Personal attacks portraying him as stupid etc are totally disgusting.

I have strongly condemned Quigg myself at times. The difference being that I confine my criticism to shortcomings related to his boxing, his blowing the weight and coming in huge etc

Good lord, calm down. I’m not saying he’s stupid, but listen to him vs a couple of years ago. He can hardly string a sentence together. I didn’t say it was because he’s thick or whatever, my point is in my opinion, he’s had one too many blows to the head.
