Prescott is not a big name according to his manager and Valero seems to be into the "if the money is right" logic too now. He didn't deserve to be in the same ring with Marquez anyway but Prescott would have been a good test though.
It really is dissappointing to hear him talk like this, he hasnt really accomplished anything yet but he thinks hes on the same level as JMM on the market. To me this indicates, as soon as Valero gets paid big $ he will lose his hunger.
At this rate, he is gonna lose his precious '0' very soon. Not many fighters can give him a decent payday, let alone a big one, so sooner or later he will have to fight a top 10 lightweight.
if he keeps this atitude, he's going to lose very soon. many of the top guys around 130-140 will beat him. so wanting only big names is like asking to be defeated
What a *****.Like he is a big name or accomplished to fight only big names for money. Prescott would have been a decent fight.
wow, what a ****in idiot......any1 wanna buy a ticket to the Valero Express? cuzz i defiantly dont want mine anymore what has he done to even earn the right to say this?
Is it just me or are there more and more fighers with this attitude. He and others with this attitude need to build their name and resume through fighting regularly against top contenders, this will build their name and if they have done enough then the fans and the promoters will be forced to make those big fights. According to the IBO 100 he has a record of 3-0 against top 50 fighters, maybe he should realise that before thinking he is on the same ground as a Manny Pacquiao.
His peers like Juan Diaz had to go through drones of up and coming competitors before he got his shot at Marquez I don't see why he can't do this. I like the guy but come on, you need bigger names than Pitalua or Mosquera before you get guys like Marquez, Pac, or even the other big dogs at 140.
I read somewhere that he wants the likes of Casamayor and Diaz over Prescott. He wants to beat people who will propel him to the very top, who have a big name, instead of Prescott, who'd be a good-looking win, but who's not proven at the highest level yet. The perfect scenario would be Valero v Casamayor, with Prescott fighting in the US again, against a half-decent name and then Valero v Prescott, so it will mean a little more.
