Ill come out and say it Valero has much of a chance to beat Pac as does any of his nameless 1st round victims. Valero has been calling out Pac for the past couple of years. As the saying goes, beware of what you wish for. Apparently Valero has sparred with Pac, with Roach saying Pac handled with him ease. Granted this was a few years ago. its easy to see why Pac would have an easy time of Valero. Hes a come-forward slower wideswinging southpaw. Sounds familiar? Yeh, sounds like David Diaz. Yes I know, Valero is alot faster than Diaz but Valero will still be slow compared to Pac especially moving up @ 135.Pac would be finding a home for his newly utilized right as well as his left. Oh yeh, Pac throws straight punches as well. I dont see this going 12. Now Valero has that KO aura David Diaz doesnt have but after having fought a slew of HOFers, champions, and contenders do you think Pac would even be swayed by it? Besides, if you put the same Valero KO victims in front of Pac, he would knock them out too .the majority of them in the first round as well. It will also be fought at 135 and lately Valero has been taken deeper into rounds by C-level fighters at 130 now hes gonna challenge Pac? Good luck buddy, youre about to get your ass handed to ya. Im actually happy that Pac is responding to some of the people calling him out who are in no way even close to his class. Mark my words Pac WILL put him back to his place. He is nowhere ready to step up this much in class, Doug Fischer is about to eat his words. Valero got what he wanted .I just hope he doesnt pull a Naz and quit after he gets his beating.
Don't be surprised if Valero gets the upset ... I read a thread yesterday that Pac is the same age of Morales and Barrera at the time he dismantled them ... don't be surprised if the same thing happens to Pac ... he's already been in too many wars and Valero is a young guy on the rise, w/ good speed w/ his hands and tremendous power. I know Pac is on the verge of greatness but this is boxing and anything can happen -- Given that Pac is 29 going on 30 and has been a numerous amount of wars, that **** is starting to wear on him ... it might not show against lesser opposition but against Marquez - he looked hurt a couple of times ... something I had never seen out of Pac ... he also didn't take body punches well. I wish both guys the best and would be neutral on this but wouldn't be surprised if Valero gets the upset. He has nothing to lose, he's virtually unheard of and is craving for Pacquiao's super stardom
Valero is not much of a challenge for a guy like Pac tbh. Alot of top fighters would handle Valero with ease.
Im going to go with a Pac mid-late round KO or a wide UD. I only really give Valero a punches chance in this fight. I just think that the jump up in class is going to be to much-to soon for Valero. It would have helped alot if he fought a few people of higher class before he fought Pac. His only notable opponent is Mosquera (sp?). People seem to think Pac is on the slide as he doesn't fight in the high tempo, brawling style that he used to but i actually think this will help him beat Valero much easier. If the Pac of a few years back fought Valero then it would be a classic brawl and i would still pick Manny to win, however, Valero would have a greater chance of landed a huge shot and KOing Manny. But with Pac being more of a boxer-puncher now i think he will bamboozal Valero who i believe does not have the skills or speed to beat this newer version of Manny. Don't get me wrong, im not saying it's set in stone that Manny will win. You can never right of a man with the power of Valero. But if Manny uses his head and boxers smartly and doesn't get dragged into a brawl then he could and should win this fight quite comfortably. There will be some hairy moments and he may get rocked but i wouldn't be suprised if we see a Calzaghe-Lacy performance take place.
Im a big Valero fan and i hope Valero will make a hell of a fight of it vs Pacman. As a manager i would have put him in vs. someone like Guerro, Soto or Barrios first. The jump from Mosquera to Pacman is extreme. I hope his manager has confidence in him and is not just doing that for $. This may be the fight where Valero can show he is special. Therefore he doesnt need a win necessarily. Go Edwin
Barrios or Soto would be a great fight for Valero to see what level he trully is at and as a decent warm up to a Pac fight.
Yep, somehow this fight has bad timing written all over it. This could be a potential superfight, a real megaseller.
I agree. Soto fought on the Pacquiao undercard, now Valero vs Soto would make perfect sense. A good step up in class for the undefeated Valero, and the first real test for Soto since his loss to Guzman
I don't see Valero being anything more than a journeyman.. His punches are wide, he sticks his chin out, and he has a poor defense.. Pacquiao will land flush straight shots and he will pick Valero apart.. I can see Valero swinging now into the air with Pac moving to the side and landing a few combinations.. I see this fight ending much quicker than the Diaz fight.. By the way, has Valero been officially cleared on his medical examinations yet?
journeyman, do you even know what this word means ? Truth is, its hard to judge Valero now. He is wild swinging at times, and for the most part of his career he was in for his 1rd ko record. Just lets see if he has a plan B. Till now, he put all his opponents to sleep and has a belt.
This won't add to Pac's legend in my opinion, it will simply prove that he can beat up another B or C level fighter. Big whoop. Let him face Guzman or Campbell and see how well he fares, considering all of his special fans seem to think he's capable of unifying at LW and beating Hatton at 140.
