I just watched a bunch of his fights against lesser tomato cans..

This guy has no technique , no defense ,and will be dropped when he fights any top opposition.

    Talk about handpicking your opponents.

Did not impress me in the least.

Paqman will eat him up for breakfast. So would the shell of the man we used to call Oscar Delahoya. So would any number of other top level fighters.

Last time I checked, we were still calling him Oscar De la Hoya.

I like Valero and I'm very happy he can finally fight in the US. Tonight he showed us what he is all about. Very exciting fighter, he is definitely dangerous to anyone at lightweight.

I think he will be exposed against a fighter who has any type of boxing ability. The guy can definately hit, and will be a threat because of that power, but he is definately beatable. He's one of the best sluggers out there.

he's a decent fighter with sick power. bonified (bona fide) tomato can? nah. glorified tomato can? maybe. kidding

valero is a very good slugger but he still needs to prove himself against quality opposition.. and i mean top level.

Am I the only person who saw this and just thought: "Bona fide, dude; it's Latin..."

Get off the Valero's back; he just DEMOLISHED a guy a lot of people on here were predicting to expose him. I still won't say that he would beat the top guys at his weight class (pac and JMM), but what he's done so far is unheard of and he has fought a handful of decent fighters. IMO, his style makes him underrated and I would at least bet on him winning this LW mini tournament that's going on.

Valero is sort of like Gamboa in a sense that they both fight WAY too ****ing wild for their own good. Both will have to tighten things up at the next level. Valero fights with his chin all out in the open begging to be tagged by a decent uppercut or sneaky hook.

If he does that against JMM, He will not get up.

That said 135 is devoid of any superstar talent OUTSIDE of JMM so he's in pretty good shape me guess.

I think JMM would have a great fight with him! And ultimately win of course.

He can definitely punch, but I'd like to see him finish the way he dropped Pitalua the 1st time.

Clean, crisp punches, pick his moment...It'd be more impressive than the inaccurate sloppy barrage that ends his earlier fights, and makes me think that whilst he will probably hurt Marquez he'll have a hard job finishing him, and if he tries to finish him in the sloppy (but undoubtedly exciting and fun to watch) way he has done to most of his oppnents he will be prone to Marquez's precise, powerful counter punches.
