Note the variety in Valero's left hand. He throws it straight and mixes it up by throwing it as a hook over the top as well. He also doubles and triples off of the straight left and he can hit low mid and high with it.

Not to mention the fact that he has a monster right hook of his own although he didn't really use it that much vs DeMarco.

As for DeMarco, his intention was to fight behind his jab from the outside and as a counter puncher. He adhered pretty good to this idea but he wasn't winning the rounds. That's when his world ****ed up cuz, having only won 1 round into the 8th, he needed to slug it out to win and there was no way in hell he was gonna beat Valero at his own macho game. Every time he came in to initiate the action, DeMarco took more damage than he dished out.

Valero is a hell of a fighter. He's an animal. U are gonna be in a war with this guy. What he lacks in defense, he makes up with will and power. There is no quit in him. Katsidis against him would be fight of the millenium.

HA, that is ****ing awesome. He looks like he's gonna eat him.

As far as Valero-Katsidis goes, I think it would have been a hell of a fight if Valero fought the pre-Casamayor version of Katsidis, but he's elected to try and box a lot more as of late, and I honestly don't think it will be the war everyone is making it out to be. Then again, Katsidis might react to beaing smacked around by trading more, so who knows.

No knock on Valero but he wasn't in the ring against a fast and prodigious sharp-shooter!

Demarco has a damn good offense and he is a long rangy fighter that works a good jab. Valero outboxed him. That is not easy to do. Its not like he slugged it out with him.

Valero did an awesome job of landing his shots then getting the **** out before DeMarco could return fire. When DeMarco let his hands go, he paid a heavy price. It wasn't that DeMarco didn't do much, he COULDN'T do much. Valero shut him down.

That pic IS awesome. New avvy for sure ;)

Demarco was slow, timid and lacked the will to really try and push Valero around.

Again I'm not knocking Valero cause he put on a decent performance but you have to consider the opponent.

Valero has a veteran presence to his game. He in no way looked like an unfinished product or a guy with no high level experience. He did things that the good fighters do in certain situations. I already know he can mix it up with the best in the 135 area. He has a difficult style and he is creative.

We are. DeMarco is a bad mother****er, he was before this fight and he still is. He just ran into a BADDER mother****er who shut him down.

Katsidis last fight with Escobedo was a more polished performance where he boxed and defended better than ever.

Problem is Valero wont mind fighting on the inside unlike Escobedo....and Valero has more angles and will trouble Katsids....that being said....I'm a Katsids fan so lets get it on :bbb

    very impressive performance. :D

only thing i don't like about him at the moment is the ridiculous tattoo on his chest.
