for some1 discribed as a 1 punch KO artist he doesnt quiet live up to the name, it took him 6 rounds to stop a bum who'd been put away at lower weights and this came only when the corner ppl decided to pull the plug, it'll b interesting to see what guys like jeff m will say after he finally meets his fate with demarco
mosquera stood infront of him for 10 rounds before he gassed and got stopped on his feet, he doesnt hit nowhere close to what ppl say
the guy has been champ for 3 years. he's fought pitalua, velazquez, mosquera and shimada. granted none are great but all are capable fighters, he put the guys down without hittin them flush. he has amazing power. an like i said earlier, i think if he fought soto, which i hope happens. he'ss finally have a top quality name on his resume and i think he will knock him out.
It Valero's defence that is the problem, not his power. Soon as he gets in with a fighter with a bit of know-how, they'll cut him to pieces.
His technique is appalling. I haven't seen the Velazquez fight yet, but watch/rewatch the Pitalua fight. When he throws combinations they are like cuffing punches, hell some people would even call it slapping, just pretty hard slapping. His chin is way up in the air at all times. He doesn't really have a jab to work behind, his footwork isn't great and he's wide open for counters when he throws punches. Likewise, I'm not yet even convinced of his power either. I mean Velazquez, Mosquera & Pitalua are the best measure of his power that we have, and they are nothing more than C+. The guy hasn't even fought a solid B level fighter, yet alone knocked out A level guys. When he starts bowling over solid contenders at 135, then I'll start believing his power.
he is there to be hit, but that makes the fights more excitin to me. an the slappin pinches, that's what i refer to with glancin blows, yet tey still do the damage to the fighters.
come on valero is a two weight champ, this isn't comparable. it's a better comparison with randal bailley. the guy had great power but aint a great boxer.
Calling him a two weight champ is an insult to guys like Charley Burley and Sam Langford. it just shows you how meaningless titles are nowadays when a guy that hasnt even fought a B-level fighter is called a two weight champion.
pitalua is atleast B-Level, he ia a decent boxer. Valero can't get a visa so landing big fights is hard for him. but it will happen sooner or later and when it does, he will knock them out.
