from what I saw in that ugly fight from this weekend, Valero had no head movement. I know he has great power in both hands, but looks technicly flawed at times. Valero is going to have his hands full against Demarco. I saw a clip of Valero sparring Erick Morales, and looked great against "El Terrible". But I havn't seen him demonstrate any of those skills in a fight. Demarco is going to be a good test for Valero.
He went survival mode cuz he got hurt. What I meant by "coming to fight" was that Velazquez was game, was trying to fight back when he got the chance and hung in there for quit a bit. He eventually had to quit cuz he just couldn't take anymore or because his corner coulnd't bear to see him take any more, it wasn't because of lack of heart on Velazquez's part.
Valero's counter-punching skills are grossly underestimated. The argument can be made that Valero has serious defensive issues but, although he is no JMM, the guy can counter-punch nicely.
It's par for the course on this forum that Valero isn't being considered as a real threat to all of the top fighters at 135lbs...What makes this guy so scary for all of the other fighters in the division, is not just his power, but his chin...he can take a great punch, guys... He's a southpaw, he has tremendous power, and he has a great beard...that spells disaster for most good fighters... i'm not saying that he can't and won't be outboxed, but, he has a very good chance of beating the elite of the division because of the variables mentioned above...JMM, Juan Diaz, Ali Funeka, and Joan Guzman are all susceptible to KO...this is one reason why no one is exactly lining up for their shot at the WBC title right now... You would think that most fight fans would notice that no fighters are currently calling out the WBC title holder right now...Hmmmm
Barrios has been calling him out the whole year. The problem with him is that he can't get licensed in America for a big fight.
Soto is one of the few that wants to fight Valero but he's a tough guy so I'm not surprised. What annoys me is big name fighters like Katsidis, Juan Diaz and JMM are just ignoring him. Amir Khan and Warren expressed interest to fight Valero then ran off to 140 after he flattened Pitalua. Diaz also did a runner and fought featherfisted Malignaggi at catchweight.
Jorge Barrios is a shell of himself who got TKO'd by Rocky Juarez...he's calling out everyone and just looking for a fight...any fight. He is licesned in TX...I just saw him fight there in April. i hear he is having work visa issues currently, though. JMM should fight him in Mexico at 135...he has no business fighting at 140lbs. JMM vs Valero in Mexico is a huge fight...but, like I said, no one wants to fight this guy!!
Soto is a badass who doesn't duck anyone...this is why most appreciate him. I would love to see that fight happen in Mexico.:good
Bull**** with the no ne wants to fight him.DeMarco wants to and will. Barrios wants to. Valero is no one to choose opponents as he hasn't faced much of nobody with just 2 good Ws on his record. His license problem is what counts not fear.He can't fight in Texas all his life.Excuse me for not beliving that ''no one wants to fight him''.
Let's just say that no one with a decent name and future ahead of them seems to be in a rush to fight Valero. He's someone that is high risk and low-medium reward and if they should lose to him it's probably going to be by a vicious KO. He needs to fight more often against better opponents and maybe add another belt to his collection then people may start lining up.
It's true that no one of stature wants to fight him...the only fighters who are willing to risk getting knocked out by Valero are young guns or has beens that are either trying to make a name for themselves or trying to acheive one last moment of glory. Look at the evidence in front of you, man...JMM could easily make a huge fight with Valero in Mexico City...he won't though. Juan Diaz could easily make a huge fight with this guy in houston, TX...he won't though. Joan Guzman could make a huge fight with Valero in the Dom Rep...he won't though. Ali Funeka could make this a huge unification fight for the WBC and the vacated IBF title...be he won't Sounds like your dislike for Valero is clouding your judgment.
How do you know that those guys dont want to fight Valero? Did they ever received an offer from Valero's camp?
My dislike clouds my judgement?I like him but it's up to him to ''convert' me into a believer. Besides you mentioning a bunch of names in the division and saying they don't want to fight him proves **** to me. I could say the same ****.Valero could easily make a fight with X buthe won't,with Y but he won't,etc.Proves nada. Excuse me for not believing but hope Edwin turns me into one.
Not that I know of, but I haven't heard anyone contacting his camp either, which is odd considering that he is the current WBC champ and several top fighters in the division don't have current titles.
