Humberto Soto is rated #2 and Yuriorkis Gamboa is rated #3 by WBA so he'll have to fight either of these guys in his next fight to rpove himself otherwise he is just a another clown trying to pad his record against class B and C fighters.
The thing is, by the 17th of this month, Gamboa will have faced equal, if not better opposition than Valero. Think he beats Valero in a round or two as well.
To be fair to him he hasnt been champ that long, nor at the level most of the top fighters at 130 have been. Its not as though fighters have been clamering to fight him and when you cant fight in the country where these fighters are based essentially, what are your options?. Obviously this has changed now and a step up is to be expected in his next fight or Ill be all aboard the condemning Valero bandwagon. I think he is a pretty good fighter, with not only crazy power but a good ring intelligence aswell. Going into Mosquera's backyard and being the first guy to stop him in your first real step up in class must be commended.
Why eliminate one when either can realistically knock the **** out of Edwin Valero, then face the other after.
Humberto Soto is rated #2 and Yuriorkis Gamboa is rated #3 by WBA Just so that valero could stop fighting cans and would be force to face the winner of this eliminator or be strip by the WBA
Jesus, already? Seems like a good idea to me, though Im pretty sure Soto is going the WBC path, fighting for the interim title I think. I just hope they can get Gamboa an opponant that takes him into the later rounds. Thats the only real experience he needs. Looks like he is fighting the no2 in June :deal
