From ESPN, regarding Pacquiao winning world titles at 112, 122, 126, and 130 (while starting at 106 pounds), here is what Valero had to say: "It's a sign of greatness. Pacquiao's a phenomenon. Doing something like that is almost unheard of. It's like Oscar De La Hoya: He started at 130 and was fighting for titles at 160. That's something special. Pacquiao is special." Let's hope Pacman returns the favor and gives El Inca a shot at 135 if all roads lead to him. 135 in my opinion is big enough for Manny, and I wouldn't be surprised if he struggled against Diaz on Saturday.
valero needs to be worthy of a shot against pac. he needs to fight top 5 in his division. Pac will not fight him just to have an ego boost. same goes for guzman. they need to bring some bucks on the table. peace out
ALL props for "EL INCA" for the kind words. As to the Pac/Diaz fight . . . it's gonna be close and very competitive unlike what most think in this forum.
I had read this earlier and although I don't care for Valero, it's pretty neat for him to comment on Pacquiao like that.. If these two ever fight each other in the ring, it's gonna' be a while down the road.. Valero is gonna' have to raise his stock and start fighting some worthy opponents before he can even think of a fight with Pacquiao..
why not. it promises to be a war even if half of ESB feels that valero is ****. it could answer the question wether valero is a real deal or not.
No, He WAS the lineal champion at 126. That's because he beat Barrera, who beat Hamed, the universally recognized Featherweight champ. That makes Pacman a 4 weight champion at the moment.
Officially yes he was not because he didn't get an ALPHABET Belt. But if you beat the lineal champ in everybody's mind you are a champ. AND don't forget that MAB didn't lose his WBC belt. He abandoned it or surrendered it to get away from the sanctioning fee.
Your correct, but on paper he is only a three division champ. He himself is telling everyone that he will be the first to win FOUR divisions from the Philipines when he beats Diaz.
roberto duran beat iran barkley at 168, durans 9th weight class. pac is now fighting in his 8th weight class
Roberto Duran is one of only two boxers to box competitively in five different decades... amazing really. If he made a comback in just over one year it would be six. Not saying I wan't that to happen, but you never know with Duran.
