Valero spanked Demarco over 9 rounds then his team stopped him coming out for the 10th round.

Valero fought on with a nasty gash from a round 2 elbow....Demarco lost a point even though it was not intentional.

I would love to see Katsidis V Valero....thoughts?

I might get a little hate for this but i think Valero would knock Kat out cold as ice.

Valero has huge power and i dont rate Kats chin much above a 7/10

As much as I'm a Katsidis fan I have to agree with Marcus.

    YOU ******* :fire

However I know what your saying......I will still pick Mick :good

How good will it be.......real anticipation of a bloodbath toe to toe war......Edwin may end up with another gash on the head.....Katsidis does tend to lead with his head while closing the gap.

Valero should start favorite...but it would be top fight. Wouldnt be a technical masterpiece by a long shot but I think we would get our moneys worth.

Tough fight to call... Valero has faced 2 tough guys in Demarco and Pitalua... in both cases he destroyed them just with swarming and wild combos... he obviously has unreal power and good speed but other than that not much true boxing talent

Katsidis has faced the better opposition and beaten the better fighters, he is a little more polished, great power and a huge heart.

Defensively they are both open to HEAPS of punishment, they both cut and both chins are a little suspect. Combine this with the fact that neither will take a backwards step and you got an insane fight

My feeling is that Mick would probably fight pretty evenly with Valero in the opening rounds and would then begin to wear him down and turn it into his inside fight on the ropes... rough housing, holding, and not taking off the pressure.

The fight ends in one of two ways IMO

Valero catches Kats and tears all his scar tissue open and wins on cuts (to be fair the cuts seem to have hardened up a bit lately)

Kats wear Valero down and stops him late, a more seasoned fighter who knows how to win a brawl.

Both would probably hit the deck at some stage and no way it goes 12

Only thing that worries me is Valero being a southpaw...

Wonder how long that shocker Valero copped will that to heal...that looks like it will take a fair few stitches.

I'm sure Mick has beaten a few southpaws before but as we all know he was smashed several times with the straight left from Casamayor.

Casamayor and Amonsot gave Mick trouble because they were on the backfoot quite a bit, as well as being southpaw.

I think aggressive southpaws are a different kettle of fish for Mick...but in saying that Valero is unorthodox as all hell. I think there is a big chance of headclashes galore in this one.

i think with kats improved defence he would beat valero.

the main thing is that valero is as easy to hit as anybody at this level. his defence is woeful at times. kats throws a million effective punches and will connect with every second one that he throws. the straight punch will hit valero at will.

valero is a bit like darchinyan. he intimidates his opponents before a punch is thrown and they get reluctant to engaged in the middle of the ring. katsidis is one cool cat and will not be intimidated by valero.

if kats plays it a little smart i think he would win on points.

but clearly valero is not someone to be taken lightly. he is undefeated for a reason.

Kats deserves a shot at someone like Juan Manuel Marquez and some top coin before taking on Valero. I don't know if if Valero brings him the top coin just yet.

And for that fact, Valero doesn't present the ideal risk vs. reward fight for him. All well and good for Kats to be known and have respect as a warrior with the fans, but it's the bigger fights/names that set him up for life.

I don't think Valero can even be licensed in the States, (please correct me if I am wrong?) hence diminishes the appeal I would think for Kats having to travel to Mexico where Valero's bout just took place.

Great bout down the track, let Kats win his full title though and earn some proper defence money before a unfication with Valero. Let it build a little more in my opinion.

    Late edit idea -

I see the great Erik Morales is coming back at a catch-weight of 142lbs. If you want a great fight for Kats and yet will bring big coin (make no mistake Morales is still a draw, a hero in fact to the Mexicans!), let him have his catch-weight return and then face Kats in Texas.

Kats can fight Diaz next, or JMM if can be made, or Guerrero and follow-up with Morales. Kats will get great money out of Diaz, JMM especially and if he can get through either of them (I believe he can), follow up with Morales!!!

    Go Kats! :good
