Gamboa has never been on the championship level and has yet to fight someone of former or current championship status. He hasn't been in there with a guy that wants it more than he does. He might be a good fighter - but Valero is a world champion and i'm going to give him more respect than most. He's going to show and prove soon ...
This obviously doesn't work when analyzing a fight with an amazing prospect involved. There are tons of examples.....for instance if you take Mike Tyson vs Berbick. Tyson didn't have much pro experience at that point but completely blew out Berbick for the WBC strap
And you did.. All is good..:good I just don't see Gamboa taking all of Pacquiao's shots.. Pac is powerful and always pressures as he is always willing to trade shots.. Indeed Pac might be hit, but I see Pacquiao hurting Gamboa..
Moving fast is not a problem.....being thrown in to the deep end in a very burtal sport is wrong. I mean he is a grown man but in boxing years in the pro ranks are vastly different. True about Gamboa's decent opponents but again....being in a title eliminator doesn't mean you you deserve it. Some times they are sacrafical lambs so to speak. There are many fighters who are HOME fighers who beat up on boxer in there own back yard...the US has them, UK, Asia ect....both Kebebe and De jesus are decent fighters who have a VERY padded record. Those guys don't really have any real depth to there records although they look like they do. I do agree that PAC eats Valero alive although his power is a great equalizer to whom ever he faces. By no means am I trumping over Valero's resume...there are many guys that meet Kebebe and De Jesus's padded record on Ed's resume as well...but the could of times that were LEGIT wins against REAL opposition Ed preformed and not just won but dominated. there is the difference that I see.
No doubt at all regarding his skill sets...but as you know boxing is very much about mentality, experience and instinct. You get the instinct from the more experince you attain and your mentality is either there or it's NOT! Questions are still left unanswered with Gamboa not bc he is Hype but b/c he's still so fresh and green. No....Jimenez is definitley a step in the right direction and it's warrented...he's not a PAC and he's not a Valero but he is a good oppoent to see where he is at THIS STAGE in his young and short career. And I wish I could take your money by your confidence that he KO's Valero. THat I don't see happening. Gamboa does get hit even with all his talent and one punch can put Gamboa to sleep. Wiat....I could be jumping the guy b/c Gam could have a solid chin.....Valero has proven to have a sturdy chin....this fight is more reasonable to test that potential asset for Gamboa but do you really want to find out if he has a chin this early in his career against a PROVEN KO artist?
Valero a "KO artist"? :rofl I don't think so And yes Gamboa has taken some flush shots but who hasn't? It not like he has zero defense. His head movement is phenominal and he slips tons of punches. He's not easy to hit by any means and I highly doubt Valero takes him into deep water
LOL :rofl ......Yeah! What the **** was I thinking a 100% KO ration is definitely not reason to believe he has power! CLOWN! Of course he is a KO artist Bro. To say otherwise you are only comming off as irrational and completely biased. That's like me saying Gamboa doen't really have skill! Taking a flush shot from someone who doesn't have concussive power is not like taking a flush shot from some like Mike Tyson, Ezzard Charles, Big George and YES...Your boy valero. Gam is a better technition and is more fluid but again....HE GET'S HIT! Maybe he's hard to hit which is definitley the case but look at who is throwing hands at him....no one on Ed's level that's for sure....if it was Gamboa may be slept! I don't have a clue how is chin is but If I was his camp it would be tested against a PROVEN heavy handed fighter like PAC or valero.
Ok boxrec warrior. Oh boy where do I start? First off, just because a guy has power doesn't make him a ko artist. Especially when he's knocking out taxi-cab drivers (literally in his case). I'm not at all sold on him being a knockout artist yet. And also the guy is as one-dimensional as they come. Gamboa will completely eat him up. He doesn't use his jab, and when he does he drops his left hand EVERY TIME. He's asking to get tagged. And also his chin isn't anywhere near as good as you make it out to be. He has been rocked numerous times from keeping his hands low and surely a guy like Gamboa will follow up and take him out. He's just too crude and I only rate him as a C level fighter
I rest my case! Gamboa is a very talented fighter and there are very promising things to come for this great PROSPECT! But given his preformance last Saturday proves that he is still wet under the ears and too green to be mentioned with the better vets of his division. He still is very impressive this early in his career but you like many others are a bit jumping the gun on where he is at at this level of professional competition. It's true have power doesn't make you a KO artist....being a KO artist WITH Power makes you a very dangerous KO artist which Valero is. If you don't agree that is fine, but if you disagree it shows your lack in some areas of knowing the sweet Science. It's really not that hard to understand when speaking about Valero....I can see questioning a guy like Darnel Wilson or a Sam Peter, but not Valero....especially given that he's in the lower weight classes and still is powerful enough to have a 100% KO Ratio. Is Valero one demensional? Naw...he's proven to have skill...Just watch the Edwin vs Masquero fight and you'll see his demensions. I will say he somtimes goes trigger happy with his power punches which leaves him open but with success like a perfect KO percentage it's easy to use what works. That could be his undoing though. Time will tell. one thing is for sure...he's got one punch power and he's not one demensional. As for Gamboa eating him up. We all make mistakes. Give him a few years and maybe he'll be able to eat him up....but as I've been stating he's not ready! Plain and simple. Have you seen valero fight? You say he drops the left "EVERY TIME" when using the jab?:huh Valero doesn't drop his left when he Jabs homie...you must be thinking of some other valero. He has many defensive holes but droping the left when jabbing is not one of them. He's open when he throws the hook and in combination at times. He doesn't have much lateral movement but he has good head movement and very good upper body movment. His foot work needs some help as well as his Jab. His chin is very good! Not like Toney or Holy but like DLH. He's taken some good shots in some of his fights and has been down once. And that was a hell of a shot he ate, then bounce right back up and regain his balance and took out his opponent for the WBA championship. He's only been rocked once bro, which makes me question if you really know or seen him fight, even spar?:think Rating Valero as a "C" fighter is laughable and only diminishes your "Boxing Knowledge" or lack there of.
It looks like its going to happen by the end of this year isnt the rojas fight for the #1 rated spot for the WBA belt?
