no doubt about it, but........... valero's power is a great equalizer to that speed and talent, it takes that one punch to change or end a fight.

It is the only chance of Valero.

But I think it would be very hard for him to do that since he always relies on those one-punch KO attack, which was unbelievably effective versus vegetable vendors and cab drivers who took a part-time job as boxers but against real-time boxers, and particularly against a slick boxer with solid background, who can also hurt him, it will be a night of expose.

This will be an interesting fight, though.

I've seen Valero fight, he throws alot of punches in bunches, unlike sam peter for example,, and with gamboa throwing right back he could very will get caught by valero and with his power a KO by valero is not that far feched

I would never make that fight if I was Gamboas manager. Valero is a pressure brawler, he throws tons of punches, and Gamboa has not been consistent with his defense. Even if Gamboa has a good chin, it will only take one big shot from Valero to drop him, if not KOed.

If I was Valero's manager, I'd continue throwing him in with bums so as not to have him completely exposed, as he will be the moment he faces anything resembling an elite fighter, which Gamboa will soon be. You honestly see anything aside from power in Valero? The only hyped prospect/contender who's actually worse than him is Ponce in my opinion. Without the power, the guy's a bum. Straight up.

I agree that Gamboa is close to being Elite, but the kid still has had only 11 fights, and he likes to make things a scrap. At this early in his career, I wouldnt match him with Valero. Valero has nothing but power, true. But it could take only one punch to end that fight, and Gamboas defense has just not been up to par. He has been fighting too cocky, and for the sake of his career I would give him some more fights prior to making that matchup, because if he got KOed it would just be a huge setback, especially if I had known that had I waited three more fights he would have been better prepared.

Both are supposedly EXCITING boxers with ZERO "L". Somebody will be surely EXPOSED!

Either valero will add somebody to his resume aside from Mosqueda or Gamboa will tell us that Valero's past KO's was a fluke and tells us that Gamboa is somebody to rekon with.

Either way, somebody will be exposed!

It would seem! But Valero has very good boxing skills and intelligence. It's just with his POWER..he relies on it too much in fights. He gets away with not using skills he's learned and definitly has b/c he knows all he has to do is land one good punch.

With Gam he wont have to use much skill b/c Gam leaves himself open. It will look as if Gamboa is on his way to a Decisions win but ultimately will get Knocked out with his terrible habits of keeping his hands down and chin up. Gam's problem with his extreme natrual talent and reflexes is that he thinks he can do it, look flashy and still win.

That **** works in the AM's but in PRO boxing his ass is going to get checked with authority if he gets in there with anyone with decent skills and power. He needs to un-learn that before he steps up to the top level and his preformance against Darling only further proved that his handelers have some work to do before getting too ahead of themselves.

Valero has faced decent and very good opponents. Gam has yet to face a B level fighter. Darling at best is a B- and that is generous.

Valero has beaten a legitimate world champion in dominating fashion in Vincente who is definitly not a push over. That win against Masquera proved that Valero is a legitimate threat to anyone at 130 or 135 and that is with out his power. Valera wasn't only overpowering vincente but outboxing him after he got caught in the very 1st round and knew he wasn't going to KO Masquera in one.

You all who are so quick to say Gam will KO or outbox Valero need to use some logic when making your assesments. Gam is clearly the more flashy, faster fighter but he's no where near Valero's level at this early stage in his young pro career. He's definitley got potential but it's laughable there are more than 1 or 2 fans claiming he can beat the likes of PAC, JMM, Valero and even Linares at this point.

:nono no it doesn't work there at all. In the ams he never fought that way. Amateur boxing is at a way higher pace and is more about speed.
If there's one place (compared to the pro game) where you gotta keep your hands up it's amateur boxing.
In pro boxing you can get away with this easier than in amateur boxing imo.

Still I agree that he is asking for problems. Waaay to cocky.

I've seen tapes of Gam in the AM's and you are correct..he's more cocky now b/c of the level of guys they've been feeding him. He was fighting better comp in the Ametures than most the guys on his resume since turing pro.

But even so he ALWAYS kept his guard low and relied on his reflexes and footwook to get him out of range for his opponents. He wasn't really worried about getting KO'd in the AM's and he isn't now which is a HUGE mistake mentally. I'm not sure about his chin either.

Jimenez isn't a hard puncher yet he still floord Gam. I like Gamboa but all this nonsense about him being ready to step up to face PAC, Juan, Valero and even Linares are just a bit much for someone this early and this UN-proven is a bit scary.

I for one want to see his talent peak and his pro game reach the level's of Roy Jones, PAC or floyd Jr. But I think the hype will cause networks and his team to move him far to fast for his own good. This happens far to often in Boxing and I hope Gam won't be a statistic.

At least Ponce has a better chin, better stamina, and is calmer when he fights. Valero is faster, but he's probably a level below Ponce and IMO his power is not even close to Ponce's P4P, which says a whole lot about him. If I was Valero's team, I would keep him away from any C+/B- level fighters or higher unless they have a glass chin. I would continue to put him in with lower C levels until Pac loses.. that'll be his opportunity to make a payday against Pac, who'll need a comeback fight to look impressive in.
