Not seen his last fight so can't comment. I thought he looked better in his previous one though. I like Katsidis, he can box well when he wants to, but he does like a war and I could see Valero winning that kind of battle.

I can certainly see Katsidis shipping too much punishment, but despite his record, I don't see this mythical power everyone is talking about. His ability to finish a fight is downright sloppy.

mate your not 26 wins 26ko for being a bad finisher. He hurts you and then barrages you with punches till the ref has seen enough, i know what you mean tho, itd be nice to see him finish people like Abraham does.

Not impressed with Valero really. He has power and that's about it. A good counter-puncher or boxer-puncher would have a field-day with him. That being said Katsidis likes a brawl and doesn't have the best chin so I reckon Valero could KO Katsidis. However I have no idea about Valero's chin so that's still a question mark for me.

Valero has got a decent beard, Katsidis kryptonite is Valero and Jmm is Valero kryptonite. I couldnt give a **** tha pbf beat a guy 3 weightclasses from his best and a stone heavier than him. jmm is without a doubt the best at 140 and is the only guy at 140 id stake my life on to beat Valero.

If that is the case that Valero has a good beard then I think he will KO Katsidis as you said. I also agree about JMM. Dinamita would take him to school!

I'm not convinced Valero has got anything above average in the chin department; Mosquera was a non-hitter and had him reeling several times IMO

Trust me Flea, he will come good just as Gamboa has, He will work on his defence in time, a loss may actually help him on his way to glory in fairness. Perhaps he would tighten up, at the mo he probably hits for homeruns as they have carried him this far and won him a title. When he fights someone with more stature we can truely rate him, from what i have seen he and katsidis would be a brawl of epic proportions...:good

Flea your obvious distaste for Valero is clouding your judgement m8.
Personally I think Valero is a monster and will take care of Katsidis inside 6-8 rounds.
JMM is another thing altogether of course but Valero has bags of power and I wouldn't like to call that one.

Fleaman you are trying way too hard. Valero is a good fighter and you are talking about him like he's an F Grade bum. Pull yourself together man. He may or may not cut it at the top level, and yes he has some gaping flaws, but he's a lot better than you are giving credit for.

No, I'm making a prediction, based on watching Valero fights, that he won't cut it against Katsidis, let alone the 'best' of the division (and Katsidis is up there, but in an alltime sense?!?! I mean there are several featherweights I'd pick to destroy Valero, let alone Lightweights) reason being is that I cannot comprehend how everyone else is not seeing what I'm seeing.

Can I say first that I welcome every Valero fight with open arms, as he is damn exciting to watch, and has power to destroy crap opposition, as, for someone who has held bauables in two divisions and is currently holding the WBC strap what he has been calling opposition is feeble.

That's one reason I don't rate his power. His record is manafactured.

ANother reason is that aesthetically he doesn't look that destructive a puncher, especially considering the opposition. Heavy handed? Undoubtedly. A really really devastating puncher? No, he just wings away, crowding any decent shots he may have.

I think Soto will beat him. But fair play to Valero, for all his technical shortcomings, he comes to fight, and if anyone wings away enough they're gonna' be dangerous whilst they're still standing. But from what I've seen of Valero, for anyone with a 'high level pulse' (i.e not just someone who is standing but someone who can test him) he will lose.

And I'm not gonn' come out of the woodwork if he loses up at light-heavy, undefeated with seven titles and an undefeated 60-0(60) record.

If he beats someone like Katsidis who is not infallible but is undoubtedly near the top of the current division, a guy who is capable, tough and proven recently to still be 'with it'.

He will give Valero a fight. Pitalua may have bigger one shot power but I don't feel he's as stern a test as Katsidis would be. I also don't think Vaero's the kinda' guy who's gonna' adapt and 'tighten his game up'.....that IS his game and I feel he's one of those 'do or die' fighters. And soon enough he'll get splatted. I personally feel he has a good chance in the Katsidis fight BECAUSE we know Katsidis can be hit and that Valero if allowed a prone target can force a stoppage.

But I just feel Katsidis will prevail. He's tough, he can mix up his approach a bit even if he isn't the most able, can whack a bit, can take enough shots to provide some competition, and most of all if Valero DOES win in impressive fashion we know he can break down a very tough top level fighter.

However; to put it in comparison, beating Katsidis does not make Valero a World beater. It shows he has the potential to do some dage however.

    To be fair, because of some of the other fighters vulnerabilities (Guzman, can't punch, little drive now (?); Funeka, tough opponent and stylistic nightmare but can be hurt if caught; DeMArco; as Valero, relatively unproven, one decent win over Kid Diamond who was a nevr been rather than a has been, quite young, slow starter) there appears to be one test for Valero to 'reach the level';

It's only sensible to talk about it because a lot of people (moreso on the General than on here) are talking about it like its a mere formality, that this Juggernaut will ride onto one thing only......MARQUEZ!

Marquez will......does anyone need any convincing?

What I'm saying is, in many era's, Valero would not have been a great. In this era, the one man (Pac vs Valero is pretty much unmakeable now, they're at different ends of the food chain) who he CAN beat to prove himself amongst the upper echelon (unless of course he's going to skip the best in this division as he did at 130 and go straight up and fight lesser fighters at 140) will smash him to pieces.

I'm not a hater as many will immediately call me, but Devils Advocate to the constant juggernaut that is the inconceivable Valero hypetrain! Reliable, knowing, intelligent posters whose opinions on boxing I genuinely respect (and yes I'm talking about this forum ) that for some reason have bought into this Valero thing?!?!

I hope people see that I have reasons behind my madness?!?!!? I take the fighter into account when discussing his potential in the sport, and for me a lot of people (though not all) are just seeing the perfect KO% and not seeing the fact that he isn't that good.

One thing is certain, he will make for an exciting fight whoever he faces. I'm not 'trying too hard' just refuting claims that he's a Monster who is gonna' cut a swathe through the top contenders. That is all.
