With everyone leaving 130 to fight at lightweight. Juarez can finally get a belt. I'd pick him over any of the current title holders (Alex Arthur, Valero, or Baloyi)
They BOTH have great power. The key differences between the two for me is their chin, and defense. Rocky has a solid beard, he's taken bombs from Soto, and Marquez and he didn't budge. Valero was knocked down by Mosquera before coming back to win the fight.
lol i somehow knew why valero would take on juarez, his team probably thinks juarez is already done. If he doesn't learn how to box he'll be in for a surprise...:yep if juarez loses however then he is really done, and juarez hasn't been KOed before i'll give valero props if he does KO him
Finally Valero is stepping up. This is gonna be his first acid test and will be a good measuring stick for him if it pushes through. Take note that Juarez has lasted the full route against MAB and JMM. And also take note that Juarez is still listed as the number 10 man in the 130 Ring list. If Valero fails to knock out Juarez . . . it's Juarez by decission.
To be fair against JMM, Juarez really could've been stopped at any time. Or thhe fight could've been stopped at least. I remember him being cut above both eyes and bleeding like a stuck pig. I do agree with your general point though. This is a nice step up for Valero against an opponent who really isn't all that hard to hit and isn't afraid to hit hard back. It's a good way to see what they've got in Edwin and whether he's as crude as his fights make him out to be. Perhaps he's got some technique and we just don't know it yet?
Valero makes all kinds of mistakes (wide, telegraphed shots and squaring up on flat feet among them), but you guys have more faith in Juarez than I do. His workrate comes and goes, and from fight to fight you don't know what you are going to get. Good matchup, though. If Valero can dominate and stop Rocky, I'll start to take him more seriously.
