That even at this stage, Gamboa would take this guy apart. Would send Gamboa on the way to superstardom!
I'm not the least bit impressed by Valero. He's extremely crude and will never be mistaken for a speed demon. While his power seems to be the eraser, I have a feeling it's not all that it's cracked up to be (and definitely not in the realm of Hamed, Gomez, Lopez, etc). He was starching D/E levels in a round, but when he stepped it up and faced Vicente Mosquera, he went life and death, eventually stopping him late. He showed great heart and a fighting spirit, however, little resembling world class technical skills, accuracy, or defensive awareness. It's taken him longer to dispose of C levels as well, stopping Zavaleta in 3 and Honmo in 8. Despite technically still being in the prospect stage, Gamboa's faced better opponents than Valero recently. And he has been running through them with ease, looking like a seasoned champion in doing so. On film, he's much more impressive than Valero, showing a blend of speed, technical skills, defense, and power. He's flawed, yes, but his reflexes and speed allow him to get away with things most fighters cannot. I'd classify him as a truly gifted athlete. Additionally, his timing is so much better than Valero's, it's not even funny. In a fight between the two, I see Valero coming out slugging and Gamboa staying well within range. He would look to counter Valero's wider shots, get inside and unload combinations to the body and the head. Valero would be getting hit from all angles with accurate power shots and there's only so much you can take. He wouldn't be able to deal with Gamboa's speed, which would overwhelm him. The only hope for him is to land a big punch, stun Gamboa, and follow up with perfection, but I'm confident that wouldn't happen. Gamboa KO3 (probably earlier)
Both unbeaten, but one that is clearly nothing more than a one-dimensional, shaky chinned brawler with no defense or good skills, but with enough power and toughness to run through D/C level fighters. Gamboa TKO1 and I'm not exaggerating.. I truly believe Valero would panic as soon as he gets backed up, then Gamboa would swarm him, hurt him badly, and stop him quickly after that.
I wouldnt exactly call him exposed. He has a glittering record but his deficiencies are very clear. His defense is extremely porous and he looks like a wild man when he goes for the KO. He can certainly punch but that is all he can do.He doesnt seem to have that Hamed concussive type power though.
speed, ability to hit from all angles, better footwork, superior defense, and KO power. gamboa is too much for valero to handle. though i suspect if gamboa could take valeros power. one well placed shot and hes stunned and its lights out from there on. but i doubt if valero would be able to land one. not against a supremely tactical fighter. eventhough i would still go for valero. why? i dont know, maybe hes fun to watch or its the hairdo.
