Another Valero thread I'm afraid. Valero says he wants to fight Juan Diaz in Texas at 140 to prove he has power at that weight. This would be an ideal fight for Valero. Diaz isn't a natural light-welter and his come-forward, pressuring style should suit Valero. It also gives him a chance to adjust to the weight without facing someone markedly bigger and stronger. Diaz will surely take the fight but does anyone think he can win it? At the risk of being terribly predictable, I'm going with Valero by ko. Diaz's defence isn't great and he's going to be coming forward all night. This is a recipe for disaster against Valero.
How does fighting a career LW, who only fought twice at JWW against a guy with 5 KO's, at JWW prove your power at JWW?
Diaz got wooped by malignaggi!!! (feather-fisted) MALIGNAGGI!! TWICE!!! Valero KTFO I think diaz hasn't gt anything left, im suprised the way his career went after JMM, didn't look like the same fighter ever since
It's a good thing Diaz is going to a law school to have a post-boxing career. Or is he still going to school?
It would be a decent name for his resumé at 140 and good to test waters, but he would knock Diaz out at 140 with relative ease on the way. It seems like a logical fight though, given Valero at this moment is only licensed in the US in Texas and Diaz has obviously fought out of Texas aswell.
If he can still make 135 with no problems I think he should stay there and have a few more fights, clean it out so there is no doubt he is the champ at that weight. If Diaz could still make 135 I would prefer the fight there. Valero has a lot of natural talent I would love to see him get to the states and get a top notch trainer to take him farther. I mean look at what Roach did with Pac in a few years time, took what was there naturally and made him into a monster.
I think HBOs plan is to match Maidana with Katsidis (assuming he gets past Guerrero). There's a fair amount of talent at 140 though, so I'd prefer to see Valero go after someone else. Maybe he could even challenge someone like Funeka to move up with him?
:huh Why have the fight at 140? Diaz is a 135 fighter just like you are dude, so keep it at lightweight. I for one would be interested to see this fight, because Juan Diaz (as poor as his recent form is) is still a step up from the competition he's faced so far. It's a wise matchup, one that can make Valero look good, and gain some recognition too.
anyways, why is Juan Diaz fighting at 140lbs? wtf is up with that did he permanently move up or something?
Valero should stop with this "I want the big fights thing." He needs to start collecting titles at 135, fight Maidana at 140, or STFU.
