I think its a smart next step for Valero. A Good fight but not too dangerous for him, after destroying Diaz then he should step up the competition.

Both fight at 135 yet Valero wants it at 140?

He should try to get a fight with Malignaggi, or someone like that. Juan Diaz is so shot, it is not even funny.

It would be a good fight while it lasted but Valero would probably ko Diaz. Diaz has a solid jab, good handspeed, and a lot of big fight experiecne so I wouldn't want to dismiss him too easily. But Diaz looks like he may already be slipping. He has lost 3 of his last 5 and it could by 4 of 5 if you think he lost the first Malignaggi fight.

Diaz would be better off trying to face the winner or loser of Khan-JMM, Hatton, Casamayor, or a Katsidis rematch. Valero is a bad style match up for him and would probably be worth less financially than a number of other fights he could get.

Diaz has no pop and has lost his last 4 in my opinion and this is the most dangerous puncher he has ever faced.

Diaz's last two fights have been closer to 140 and Valero is struggling to make 135. He wants to test the waters at light-welter before deciding to move up permanently.

This would be ideal for Valero all things considered.

Diaz only took on Paulie was because he had pretty much take on everyone who was relevant at 135.

Now Valero is there and instead of a great fight at 135, it'll be a one sided beatdown for Valero.

You are certainly right though, it is ideal for him.

    It's a fine fight....at 135. Head scratcher at 140.

But it would require Top Rank and Golden Boy to work together. I really don't know if these two promoters are going to be doing much work together in the near future.

Valero should stay at lightweight, for now,

See what JMM is doing (wether hes taking a fight with Hatton, Khan ect) pick up the rest of the belts and then move up and take on Maidana,

What about Guzman? Soto? theres plenty of opposition at 135 for him to sink his teeth in to for now

Valero can only fight in Texas when it comes to the States - so one of the biggest names in Texas is Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz.

Therefore - the fight actually makes some sense - other than the weight. This will give Valero more exposure in the States and if Diaz and pull off the upset - he'll be right back in the mix.

At least we know it would be competitive while it lasted.

It's also common knowledge that Valero is desperate to fight Pacquiao eventually. He'll have to move up in weight sooner or later to have a realistic chance of getting that fight. If Valero beats Diaz and Bradley, suddenly a fight with Pac looks like a viable option.

I'm sure most of us would like to see him fight JMM and since it looks like he isn't coming back to 135, this might be the best option for Valero.

Theres a lot of good reasons for why this fight should happen. Diaz is a step up for Valero, and at this time is not exactly a dangerous opponent. Valero can fight in texas and if lwins fashionably could set him up against JMM. Also who wouldn't want to see these two go at it? That would be one hell of a war, leaning towards Valero but if at 135 I think Diaz would do a lot better, don't like how he looks at 140.

Great fight!....one that favors Valero's style. Juan is not afraid to fight and will be right in frong of Ed banging away with him. Juan could win but the power of Ed tells this story before it even happens. A KO waiting for Juan Diaz I believe.

Valero should go after Marquez while he still have a chance.
