African fighter, a welterweight, who fought out of France his entire career. Seemed to have great power. 31 KO's in 39 wins, and never against really terrible opposition. Only fought for 8 years or so. Didn't leave much of a mark on the sport either. But I'm curious about him none the less. Anyone?
i love to finds these type of fighters. fighters in good competition but just on a treadmill. haver you heard of anaclet wamba? french cruiserwieght of the similar elk
Valery was a light welterweight who fought in very good company more often than not in European class, he was to have faced a friend of mine in England in 1991 but the fight never materialised (Pat Barrett..) He lost 2 important fights at the end of his career , one to Patrick Charpentier who was a title holder to some degree, and the other if i remember rightly was to the man who upset Frankie Randall.. (Khalid Rhaloud) I think he was from Cyprus or Isreal or somewhere in those regions.. Anaclet Wamba was a tough Cruiserweight who was never afraid to give mounds of weight away and fight heavyweights.. I remember him facing and beating a former WBA Champ at cruiser named Akim Tafer who actually beat Johnny Nelson once upon a time, i remember him winning a world title and having a bunch of hard fights with Massimaillo Duran .. Over in his native France. The hardest loss i saw him suffer was against British world title contender at heavyweight in the eighties Horace Notice.. He faced former IBF world Cruiserweight champ Ricky Parkey too.. I always remember Rickey getting a pounding from Holyfield when Evander was clearing up the 190's guys Deleon , Ocasio and all.. Wamba was a fearless fighter, always in great condition....
I have always been curious about Kayumba becasue he at one point was the #1 contender to Juan Coggi but Valery lost to Christian Merle.... he avenged his defeat later but lost his ranking... how would Valery have done against any of the top fighters in the ealry 90's had he ever been give a chance?.. Big Cat.. could you describe Kaymuba's fighting style and how would he fare against the 140 pounders of today?
A lot of African fighters in France were not being pushed by French promoters too much. And there seems to be some resentment by Franco-African fighters towards their French overlords where they become problematic. Other good, but mishandled Franco-African fighters were Mbayo Wa Mbayo, Kitenge Wa Kitenge, Tshimanga Mbiye, Ganguina Larme, Cesar Kazadi, Simon Bakinde, Samuel Mbendjob, Museta Bingunia, Moussa Sangare, JP Dibateza, Affif Djelti, and Monji Abdou.
I was promoting fighters in Africa and following the results of a lot of the African fighters around the world. But then I got married, came back to the US and have been out of the business for almost a goddamn decade (which is why I look the way I do, if you can see my avatar). But I just got divorced and am getting ready to move back to Africa, specifically Nigeria, and start promoting and training fighters again.
I remember Mbenjob and Djelti and didn't Mbayo wa Mbayo fight Nigel Benn..?? I think it was in Scotland.. UK..
