im sorry but chris arreola????? cmon! yeah he said sorry n that he lost to the better man, but effin and blindin like that was outrageous, there couldve been kids watchin that n hes an example to them of a gracious loser :S perrrleasee
Hmm, if kids were watching they also witnessed a grown man get beaten until his face was swollen and red...was the bad language so uncalled for and outrageous?
Valuev is a humble and quiet human being who doesnt like trashtalking or belittling his opponents. Nevertheless, his style, his size and his face make people dislike or even hate him. Valuev for sure is a far more likeable human being than that unruly bighmouth Haye from the UK,but the vast mayority tends to root for the smaller guy irrespective of his personality. Props to Valuev for his human class, but I am still not a fan of his.
I did admire Valuev for not simply throwing himself at Haye and leaning on him at every opportunity. He may have actually won the fight if he'd done that. Instead he tried to win the fight with punches.
Agree that Valuev showed class in accepting defeat. Did anyone catch any footage of Valuev in the ring before the decision was made? The British coverage focussed on Haye celebrating (as most fighters do in a fairly close match before the announcement) but I wondered if Valuev thought that he had done enough to win as well.
Haye stated after the fight what a good fighter Valuev is and he was sure Valuev will come again and win this title again .... Haye had respect after the fight ! ....lets face it Ali was the biggest trash talker around but he had respect for his opponenets ... Valuev does seem a class act IMO.. a gentleman and very gracious in defeat ...
I thought Haye was just trying to sell the fight with his pre fight comments ,but then he continued with it after the fight. With his "I made him look like an amateur" line . http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/8347139.stm "I made him look like an amateur. People doubted my skills, but I did enough to win. "
What a way to win the heavyweight title... Errrr...Ali had more talent in his left testicle than Haye will ever have- stop!
Fair play to Him.....the fight was not exciting but both men tried there best with what they have. Valuev reactions and overall punching conditioning isnt the best hence why he chooses to be a boxer rather than all out banger......having never learnt to punch with his full weight behind him. Its all in the mental makeup of a man.......this why we dont judge fighting on size but rather many other qualites. I feel if they were to rematch and Haye did not damage hurt his hand then a stoppage win for Haye would occur. Valuev....your a top bloke and a decent fighter...nothing to be ashamed of.
I think that was his problem! He couldn't get near Haye to do anything! Still I agree with the consensus that as a person Valuev is a class guy. And I wish him well for the future.
