Well that one was legit, and anyone who doesn't know that, doesn't know boxing. When I heard "split decision" I was really disturbed, as was the commmentary team. No way. "Robbery".
Wasn't able to see the fight tonight. Was very impressed with the way Valuev boxed in the Lyakovich fight though. Really looked at complete ease and boxed very well, looked very much improved.
Jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, right hand miss, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab...etc Same old Valuev, I didn't see any improvements.
1 - He's pusing with his weight when his at close quarters. I can't believe it's taken him this amount of time to employ this tactic properly, regularly. But you can imagine his people working on clinches for this fight, so it does make some sort of sense. 2 - He's doubling up the jab more frequently. 3 - I think he's jabbing more accurately 4 - He looked lighter on his feet, and his skin was lose across his back. He looked lighter generally, he's been swimming, I think it is working for him. I'd be surprised if he was lighter than for this fight since 2000.
lol funny stuff scar...sounds like a kltschko hate thread although usually it's jab, hold, jab, jab, hold, jab, intentional trip, jab, jab, tank job yeah he's ready to be had. id favor most of the top 10 guys over him. expect to see the Valuev-Ruiz-Chagaev Bermuda Triangle to continue though :yep
Scar how do you picture a fight between Valuev and the winner of Vitali - Peter ? To be honest i just can't see a scenario where Valuev would beat either of them. I think Peter's too agressive and Vitali's just too well rounded for nikolai.
A Vitali that is capable of beating Peter beats Valuev all night. But Peter himself is a different kettle of fish. Peter is a great puncher, but he is not the type that is going to crack top jaws. I think that would be a good fight, competitive. Close points win for one or the other.
Really depends who wins Vitali/Peter and HOW, if Peter is able to beat Vitali then I have no doubts he can beat Valuev, same goes for Vitali. As a matter of fact I would pick Vitali over Valuev even before he fights Peter, but for Peter I won't be too confident till I see more of him, the McCline fight left a bad taste in my mouth and I can't get over it, especially after Maskaev stunned Peter as well.
Cost him a warning and a point, hardly improving when you can't prove you can apply it well enough. He always did, this isn't the first fight I saw of Valuev and I'm sure it isn't your first either. Close to point #2, he always did and his jabs usually landed when he timed them well enough. Depends on the positioning of his opponent than him, at times Ruiz would just come in with his hands low and sort of expect them. Yeah, I also mentioned the weight after the weigh-in, he definitely looked in top shape for this one and was lighter than usual but that doesn't mean he applied anything new in the ring apart from looking more freaky with a bigger head.
