Who do you think should've won? Do you think Haye did better, or do you think Valuev deserved the nod?
Haye for certain. I was surprised he got it so clearly on 2 cards as he did so little, I guess it was all a case of risk/reward for Haye in terms of how much he let his punches go with the risk of Valuev catching him and also his own stamina failing. That's why he was so careful. But ultimately, only one guy landed punches all night and that was David Haye. No other way around it, Haye landed punches throughout the 12 and Valuev I can't recall a single high quality punch he landed.
Haye did, you don't win a fight by throwing 10 jabs and hitting air. At least with Haye when he did throw, and I am cognizant he didn't throw much, but when he did at least he connected, whether it was the arm, the elbow or the head.
Valuev won the fight in my eyes. It is arguable to say if Haye won....yes...but did he do enough to win the title? No.
It's hillarious for me to see so many Haye/Froch fans contradict themselves now that the shoe is on the other foot. What I'm talking about, of course, is the Froch vs. Dirrell fight. This fight tonight was a virtual heavyweight replay of the Froch one. Haye was probably more effective, just like Dirrell was....However, Haye did not do enough to take the title. Please, please be consistenent.
The only real losers were the fans. As I said, this fight would make Wlad vs. Iggy look like Hagler Hearns...and it did. Just horrible. atsch
i scored it to haye by four. didn't buy his "broken hand" excuses, or his "niggling injuries" in preparation. i think he worked his tactics perfectly, valuev, for all his pressing, couldn't land a punch and so couldn't expect the rounds. you had to score it to haye cos he was the only one who landed scoring shots - no matter how infrequent. besides, despite the history of dodgy decisions on german soil, haye's the one who's making noise - and therefore money - in the heavyweight division: i couldn't see him losing if it was close - who wants to see wlad v niko when haye will pull in twice the figures..? davidd played the game and took the prize. and anyone who doubts that's to the benefit of the sport as a whole is completely deluded.
Draw, but both guys were awful. Valuev looked like a 36 year old acromegalic, and Haye was less active than a 46 year old Holyfield.
come on, please think a little. Did haye grab and hold every 2 secconds? was he giving up a Foot in height and 100lbs? Froch was there For him ALL NIGHT and he chose to run and grab.
Good god. There is no way - no way, no way x a billion - that Valuev won this. He was taken to school, he was embarrassed. Haye's defensive work in the corners (footwork - previosuly a weakness) was manginifecent by this division's standards. The reflexes were brilliant. The power was clear. As ever, the accuracy of his punches were excellent even for a world title level fighter. This is one of those where there should be no debate. Lunacy, utter lunacy going on here. Points scoring is subjective, but this is like suggesting that Enid Blyghton was a more sophisticated writer than DH Lawrence. madness. haye won this fight. He is better than Valuev. He is the WBA champ. Will he beat the Klitschkos? Dunno. but he's their first real threat for years.
i dont see how you win a fight by throwing just jabs and not even landing Valuev won a couple rounds on activity but no more
