I wouldn't complain at all if Valuev retired but I don't see it happening. He's still a viable opponent for either Klitschko as well as a few other top guys. He was just offered several million a few months ago I'm sure another big payday offer will come along. I wouldn't mind seeing him go but I don't think we'll get that lucky.

What I'm about to say is all hypothetical, but frankly I think that the man might have been a better fighter if handled under the right people, and maybe lost about 20-25 pounds.. He was usually around 320, and probably could have been better off at maybe 300 or 290. He also never seemed to show much aggression or set down on his punches.. Not saying that he was ever going to be great, but certainly could have been a bit better.

*** On a comical note, he might have lost some of that weight if he just shaved his body hair***

I'd agree with this. He has had an ok career for himself and dropping some of that huge size may have helped make him a better fighter. But aside from the shaving I don't know how much weight he could have lost.

Small man syndrome is a devastating condition :-(

    My condolences.

True, but he did seem to have a sizeable gut around that waste.. I think a lot of that extra baggage was unnecessary... As you say though, it would have been hard to drop a lot of it.. A guy that size can only do so much of the type of high impact work that it requires to burn real calories.. Its not like he was capable of running sprints and jumping rope forever.

Thats what I was thinking there was some weight there to shed I just don't know if he could ever do it. But if he did he would increase his non-existent movement and maybe even become a fraction quicker. His size was his biggest asset and he'd still have that if he fought at 300 instead of 320+ but maybe he could have improved a few of those other areas if only marginally.

I feel sorry for Valuev. Like him or not, he fought whatever they put in front of him, pretty much no questions asked. Valuev for awhile now has been very vocal about how poorly his career has been managed.

I remember him expressing several times, before fighting Holyfield how he did NOT want to have that fight. He fought like he was disinterested, too. His management truly has done a terrible job.

If Solis was in any kind of shape, even a bit round, he'd take Valuev to the wood shack. I'm not trying to belittle Haye's accomplishment, but everyone in boxing knew Valuev was a dead man walking. After his showing against Holyfield it was undeniable.

He's actually just being honest. Valuev had a pretty unimpressive title reign. He was also the receipient of more gift decisions than any fighter I know.

    Agreed.

He can't help his physical appearance either.

He is a giant, they don't age well, retirement is probably the best thing for him to do.
