I don't understand why its considered Setanta's responsibility either.

Setanta IS the "home of boxing", I think they are living up to their name. How many International fights do Sky show these days, non-PPV? How about BBC or ITV? One fight on ITV in a blue moon and then Hennessy domestic bills on ITV4?

Setanta show Sauerlands's bills. They show Top Rank. They show Hayemaker. They dedicate shows to boxing, exclusively.

Cut the guys some slack. This is the problem, once you do something well, people come to expect it of you. I think people should be more outraged with Sky, who showed a lot of Carl's domestic career and then abandoned him when he outgrew them, and ITV who showed his world title fight and have now again neglected to show any interest.

Ever thought that they may be screening Valuev because of his opponent?

Or because they have a deal with Sauerland which means they would pay anyway?

Or because they have a deal with David Haye - at some point Andy Kerr could say to Steve ''how about David vs the winner?'' - will be shown live on Setanta (of course...)

They are running a business not a ****ing charity..... I want to see Froch vs Taylor as well, but they have to decide how many people are going to subscribe especially for this fight that will be on at 5am - with it being common knowledge that Setanta is a nightmare to cancel as well

You could argue that people buy the Hatton fights.... but Hatton is a genuine superstar, and how many people actually pay £15 for them - just get one of your friends to buy it and split the cost between however many there are of you. Since Hatton went on PPV for the Tszyu fight I guess I have spent about £22 watching his fights.... not bad going I am sure you would agree?

These are the ITV viewing figures for the weekending 7th December 2008. Froch fought Pascal on the 6th.

http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weeklyTopProgrammesOverview? (link doesn't show that weeks figures but you can do it yourself on the left hand side of the page)
It doesn't even make the top 30 in a primetime slot on a Saturday so why would ITV want to put a Froch fight on at 4am?

In the States if the TV networks don't want to show a fight the promoter could put on his own independent PPV (Jones-Sheika or the Chavez Jr, fights) on TV. I don't think you can do that in the UK, but it'd be handy for boxing promoters if you could.

I'm sure the whining *******s would love that

They really don't know how lucky they are. I pay well over £100 a month for a big sports package here.

    :lol::good That's how I pay for it

It's still a *******. That's just to get football and the occasional Euro/American card, by no means do I get as much as you guys. I wish I could pay £50 or whatever it is for Sky and Setanta.

I just can't believe the stick Setanta are taking. Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course but it's getting outta hand. They've shown so many great fights and cards. We're ****ing lucky to have them. Marquez v Pac 2, Cotto v Margarito, Cotto v Mosley etc etc etc

So you get what for £100 odd a month?

Obviously for £50 we get Sky Sports and Setanta, basically covering football, RL, RU, cricket, tennis, golf, boxing..... pretty much everything really....

    'Tight wads at Setanta'

You have shown that you have no knowledge of how the business world works at all. Setanta is massively loss making. It is taking risks in trying to build a viable business and competitor to Sky and others.
They are doing more than okay by me.

Hennesey owns the product, but he has found no buyers at the price he is willing to sell. Its how the market has worked unfortunately.

Far too many people on here have their head in the clouds.

TFFP, how do you get to watch so much British TV from Iceland?

    Often wondered.

The ABAs, the new British amateur champs, Pavlik, Abraham, Haye, Klitschko, British dust-ups, Clottey, Cotto, Donaire, Huck, Chagaev and Valuev.
Before this lot is over there will be 12 more Bunce Hours with 5 interviews on each.

    I'm a fan... then I'm watching.

    Adios.

A lot of PL football. Virtually every Man Utd game it seems, which I like. They mostly seem to be the top 4, but not exclusively, they showed Everton-Villa and such.

    Champions League football.

    Tennis

Gay **** like Handball and Hockey and Basketball which is popular with the average Icelander.

Some German boxing cards, American ones are usually delayed

That's £100 for just the sport side of things. Satellite "normal" TV is extra on top, about £50 I think.
