The heavy weight rankings listed in boxrec today are as follows:

Can you make sense of them. I think this proves it is impossible to statistically rank boxers in an automated way, and rankings are a purely subjective matter.

    1. W Klitschko
    2. V Klitschko
    3. Chagaev
    4. Haye
    5. Thompson
    6. Peter
    7. Skelton
    8. Gomez
    9. Ruiz
    10. Ibragimov
    11. Makzaev
    12. Brewster
    13. Povetkin
    14. Valuev

    16. Rahman
    20. Arreola
    33. Holyfield
    41. Toney

Valuev was dropped 7 places after his 'victory' over Holyfield.

These boxrec threads appear now and then. My advice is this:

    IGNORE BOXREC RANKINGS.

Great site, but not for rankings.

The top 10 looks terrible, the fact that a guy who just had one win over a C+ Heavyweight in Barrett, is ranked 4, just goes to show how flawed there system of ranking is.

boxrec distiguishes between a MD and UD and considers the "home field advantage". So if you only manage a MD at home against an opponent who is not ranked you can drop some places.
