Yes, this does need to happen. Although I am still pissed that both of the K brothers are champs, because they won't fight eachother, and that means we are a ways away from an undisputed champ.
This fight will have a huge impact on the HW division, especially with John Ruiz waiting in the wings to fight the winner. After the dust clears in 2011 the WBA rankings should read like this, Mega Ultra Champion - Ruslan Chagaev Super Champion - Nikolai Valuev Champion - John Ruiz
Chagaev is a genuine talent...but he shouldn't even be going after Valuev. He could honestly give either Klitschko pure hell. He has great talent as a southpaw.
I wouldn't risk a fight with the K bros before getting a belt against a slow plodding giant either, so I can't blame Chaggy.
This fight will bring some life to hw division again. The winner is like fresh air to scene:good And that's not all, after we get winner of this match, we get that Mega fight against former 2-hw Champion of the Wolrd, John Ruiz:deal
probably the winner will surpass Vitaly into #2 spot, but then the ball is on Vitaly's court for the next fight.
All due respect to Chauncy, but it doesn't take an insider to recognize how slow Valuev has become recently. If you have watched his past 2 or 3 fights, it is readily apparent. I suspect that the rigors of training and fighting are taking a serious toll on that large body of Valuev's. That said, the only significant impact that I forsee this fight having on the division is if Chagaev dominates in impressive fashion and there is not an immediate rematch. Then Chagaev can and should be included in the conversation of top HWs. I suspect Vitali is waiting on the result of this fight to make his next move.
True enough, but he experiences it in person in sparring. And I agree with what you said about the toll boxing is having on Valuev's body.
There is no impact. The winner fights Ruiz, the winner of that fights Holyfield, the winner of THAT fights the loser of the 1st fight AND THE BEAT GOES ON.
