The Daily Telegraph can exclusively reveal that Meehan is poised to be rushed into the title fight that was originally supposed to see dual WBA title holders Nikolay Valuev and Ruslan Chagaev finally split the belt. But with Chagaev sensationally withdrawing after contracting hepatitis, the Central Coast construction worker has been catapulted into top billing for the fight in Finland today."

Great news. Judges will give the freak every close or semi close rd.....Meehan needs a KO which is highly unlikely
Conveniently they've lost Holyfield's number, huh? Seems like the least they could do is offer the fight to one of the three or four guys who deserved a victory but got heisted.
Not bagging Nick Walshaw however i always enjoy reading his stuff as the man usually tells it how it is.
"Everything looks set to go; we are just in the final stages of negotiations," Meehan's manager George Christodoulou said before flying out of Sydney. "There was talk Lamon Brewster may take the fight. Someone else said Evander Holyfield was flying over. But we are confident Kali will be fighting for the title. "He sees this as his destiny. He's quietly confident, relaxed and wants to bring the heavyweight title home to Australia. "This is going to be massive, they're talking about 100 million people watching worldwide."

well if it's true, it explains why Chagaev was so subdued during the build-up to the fight: Valuev stated he did not care about Chagaev“s strange behaviour during the last couple of days. Yesterday, the Universum fighter boycotted the official media work-out.. Today he left the arena straight after the end of the press conference - without speaking to the reporters that were hoping to get additional statements.
Jesus - is Chagaev ever going to fight again? I don't even want to think about what will happen to the WBA Title now.
Errr... wtf? I repeat... wtf? Can a guy seriously be expected to get a phone call out of the blue, jump on a plane with no preparation and fight a world title fight? I like Meehan - and I am sure he is the kind of guy who would drop anything and fight - but this idea is ridiculous. (Meehan by UD!!! )
