I´m inclined to agree with my fellow Icelander on this one. They should at least allow Valuev to fight somebody for the interim belt. After all they just awarded Peter with an interim belt and let him defend it against McCline. Let Valuev fight whoever´s available on July 5th.
The HW division has claritiy, this is the real Champion. Making the mandatories, unification and busy enough, great Champion: This content is protected
Admittedly that was a **** period, but the general standard below Tyson and Holmes was marginally better. The problem is though...........Wlads a averege to good fighter in a bad to average division.
Assuming Chagaev really has a serious injury like "a completely torn achilles tendon" then I wish him the best of luck in the future. This particular injury can end any athlete's career. I believe Dan Marino had a partially torn version and his leg was never quite the same.
And this the second time that an injury by Chagaev will ruin the fight from ever happening now. He should give up the title and let Valuev fight the #2 contender for the vacant WBA title. What a shame...
Didn't Chageav cancel the first Valuev rematch, too.? Not to mention his canceling the supposed Ibragimov titlefight to due stomach problems. If they don't go ahead with this date, and let Valuev fight Ruiz, or someone like Golota for the title, something is terribly wrong with the WBA. Chagaev must be pushed aside................Let Valuev fight for the title, for GOD's sake.
This is the third time in less than a year that Chagaev has pulled out of a fight. He should be stripped of the title or Valuev should fight for an interim belt.
Damn . . . this is really disappointing. :-( No offence meant to Chagaev . . . but I feel Valuev will beat him this time. It's just so frustrating I won't see if I'm right or wrong.
Valuev should fight Dimitrenko, Golota, Virchis, or somebody for the vacant strap. Why doesnt David Haye take on Valuev to build up some credibility at the heavyweight division....if Valuev was in Klitchko's position i highly doubt that Haye would call him out even then
