I think I made it clear numerous times that I hate Valuev to death and glad he's out and also made it clear that I am a Haye fan and have been since he was an amateur and STILL a Haye fan of course. However, when it comes to scoring I'm glad that my eyes aren't always on the fighter I support's nutsack. In this fight I thought Valuev looked like the challenger the entire night and as Valuev wasn't active enough, Haye wasn't that active either. Haye was picking his punches and timing them clearly to save energy and not run out of gas, Valuev, despite his aggression, didn't do enough to take advantage of it but also kept throwing. I had the fight for Valuev by one point. If Valuev hit the canvas in the 12th which I thought he was going to I would have had it a draw. This fight kind of reminded me of when I scored Mayweather/DLH, I did score that fight for DLH by one point as well and nearly all fellow Mayweather fans laugh at my score there. Hey, I guess when I see a challenger fights like he's the champion and the champion is pushing and fighting AFFECTIVELY like the hungry one I lean towards the other fighter regardless of how much I support/like who he's fighting. I hate Valuev beyond belief but wouldn't allow that to affect my judgment as they exchange. Is there anyone that agrees here or am I one of very few like the DLH/Mayweather result?. Even the British commentators seemed like they knew a robbery was coming then BOOM they exploded CLEARLY like they didn't expect it, nor did I. In the end, Germany remains the best place for boxing fights in my opinion, the only reason I had a few negative comments was regarding Valuev. But to compare Germany with the rest I have it #1. Real circus shows take place in England, not Germany. Want to see body slamming and suplex in boxing?, tune in for a big fight in England. Froch/Dirrell, Hatton/Tszyu, Bruno/McCall, McCellan/Benn and MANY more. All those fights were circus shows. Find me ANY fight in Germany that had 1% of what you saw in the four fights I mentioned. That's only four by the way, I could mention an endless list of more circus shows.
Wow. I'm shocked. You sure are full of surprises! I had it 116-112, and was very surprised when the scores went the other way!
You say 'Valuev won' like its cut and dry but you scored it to him by a point in a fight where you admit he didn't do a lot himself, certainly didn't land a lot.
I could not score the fight. The ONLY round that Haye won CONCLUSIVELY was the 12th. It was like watching a John Ruiz fight. And now we have Haye - Ruiz on the horizion that will probably be even more boring than the Valuev fight was.
It was close, Valuev just wasnt landing, probably landed 3 power shots all night, Haye wasnt throwing but he landed what he threw but he also ran. I had it 8-4 Haye, could of gone either way
I had it a draw, but my brother scored it for Valuev I think. It was close, but Haye did land some power shots. Most of them that hurt more than Valuev then I think he gave off. Hay definitely gave some of those middle rounds away.
If this wasn't a championship fight and I had never heard of either boxer, I would still say "the little guy gave the big guy a boxing lesson". Haye beat him, if you know what boxing is about, you would know that Haye won the boxing match, hands down, by definition he completely outboxed Valuev and he therefore won the fight.
I'll tell you, I was really shocked at this decision. I thought for sure Valuev had won, and pretty clearly too.
I don't object to not having another Valuev "win" of that type. He had like 4 close fights he got the nod in, razorthin. So losing one is not something that causes too many ideas. I don't want to see another 3 of that "performances" before Valuev retires. Sad thing is, Valuev probably didn't make even a couple of 100ks spare money from all his fights. Sauerland should be the only guy who made money, since Valuev still lives in a typical russian flat the size of a mobile home.
