How was this close? Haye was defensively superb and landed the only meaningful punches - on the head or body - all fight.

Honestly, this is getting madder and madder. haye won this by a huge, huge margin. There is no doubt here. Ok, there were close rounds like the first, but for heaven's sake don't rob a man who performeed like that. in 10 years time - whatever he does from now - I think it would be outrageous for him to have that magnificent performance, that extraordinary achievement robbed from him from people who can't score a fight.

he won THE cruiserweight title inFrance.

he proved himself the third best heavy in the world in Germany.

Haye has walked the walk. Give him some goddamn credit.

Valuev looked bad tonight. How many times did he shake his head, as if to say shots weren't hurting him? He did it after his little dance in the 12th also. Haye didn't land a lot, big deal, he did what he had to - to ensure he came back over here with a title. He admitted himself he changed his style, even more so when he damaged his hand. Some ****ing people.

I had Valuev winning clearly in what I think was his best fight in a long time. :huh

Guess I don't know how to score a fight...

Btw I also had Oscar winning over Floyd.

I thought it was pretty close. And at first I thought Valuev would get it, because of Haye's extreme inactivity but at the same time, I was thinking I could be way off. And trust me, I wanted Haye to win.

There's no doubt for me that Haye landed the harder shots, but just too few. Valuev himself landed mostly weak jabs. So maybe Haye did win. I really don't know. I'm probably gonna watch it again.

In a fight where he landed a total of 10 punches :nut:patsch

Some people were obviously swayed by the commentary and don't appreciate the art of defence.

    WOW!

Some of you guys have a really deep and broad knowledge of boxing.

As for the others....if you go to David Hayes house, he has a well deserved new belt he'll let you see.

My friend and I thought the same thing. Can't say I'll waste my time watching that again to re-score it. Not a fun fight to watch. We were basically walking away knowing Nico had won it and then bam, SUPRISE.

I like Haye, but don't see how he won the title today. Good luck to him in the future. Keep him away from Tua and the Klits and he will be fine.

Depends on how you like to score contests. It was pretty close and if Valuev had won I wouldn't have been surprised. It wasn't a robbery like the Holyfield decision was. Valuev was the aggressor throughout but he must have missed with 90% of the punches he threw - that's not good bro. The only way he was winning the fight was because Haye sometimes barely did anything except circle and dodge.

One thing's for sure is that Haye can really punch at heavyweight, if it wasn't obvious before.

I had it a draw. Haye didn't do anything in the whole fight and had probably the worst punch output I have ever seen. Valuev was horrible as usual.

Just a tiny bit over the top.

I can sorta forgive that though, all fans get a bit hyped up after their guy has had a big win.

Haye's performance was not magnificent, and he has not established himself as the third best heavy. Most sensible people didn't have Valuev in their top ten - or maybe just inside it.

He deserved the win, so I am glad he got it - even though I don't care for Haye himself.

At least you didn't start a thread about Haye now being the greatest heavyweight of his generation!

How on earth could Valuev have won the fight when he barely landed a meaningful punch? Okay it was a boring fight but at least Haye was landing the combinations he threw, people also seem to forget that points are also scored for defensive work and Hayes was flawless tonight. I still think he'd get wrecked by either Klitschko but there's no way he lost that tonight, however **** the fight was.

Seems you're about as effective at scoring as you were at fighting. He won it because he was the only one landing anything.

Haye v any Klit or Tua or whoever would be much different, Haye has moire chance of KOing any of those and just as much chance of being Kod , completely different situation from fighting the lump that is Valuev
