I remember when everyone hated on Vanderpool and that poured over on to Lacy beating a shot fighter. I didn't know Berrio and simply said this guy has a true punchers record so the verdicts out. I remember CASH being the ONLY other person to say the same. Hindsight shows Berrio had SOME class about him as his last two wins were over undefeated fighters and is a titlist. Just an example of guys chatting **** because the a guy appears like a journeyman. Same thing happens if a guys chin is shaken and suddenly he has a china chin. People jumping to conclusions.
Everyone who goes in against Berrio is confident of beating him. It's so easy! They are all outboxing him. But then, Berrio does his right-uppercut thing... Berrio is an intimidating guy...His corner do the throat-cutting sign to his opponents during opening credits. Then he KOs them.
Berrio is like many other hard punchers - he can't take all that good a shot himself. As long as Bute is careful, he should be able to take advantage of Berrio's fragile whiskers.
Sure...and if he is not careful, he has only himself to blame...it's not as if he didn't know what to expect.
I haven't seen that dirty trick before. You could even claim it was the reason for the knockout, since Mack lowered his guard and started to say something (probably along the lines of "what the ****"). Then he got smacked around like a ***** and hit the canvas.:tired BTW - Berrio/Mack was a great fight.
Go ahead guys . . . keep talking about Berrio . . . I haven't seen much of the guy . . . so I'm learning from you. :yep :good
Take Kelly pavlik, lower his chin to shaky, replace his right hand with an uppercut, take away his jab, take away his finisher instinct, take away his defense and foot movement, turn him black, and you have Berrio. Edit: Kelly has bad foot movement and questionable defense, but if there was a god of flat footedness, Berrio would be it.
Their overall styles are too different to be comparable. If you were to rate their offensive abilities alone, maybe Berrio is a bit better, but it depends on the situation. Margarito has a higher punch output, but Berrio still throws a ton. Antonio uses foot movement and feints to get punches in, Berrio just plods in at 1mph, completely upright, and throws punches. They both work the body, Berrio with low blows and uppercuts, and Margarito with hooks. Berrio has a Pavlik type body and has more power, but no jab at all. I think he threw twice as many uppercuts as jabs vs mack. Margarito has better instincts for openings and is a better finisher, as Berrio fights the same whether someone is on ***** street or not. Berrio's offense is difficult to rate since he hasn't been tested that much, and gets TKOd before he can deliver the KO vs undefeated opponents. In overall skill Margarito is probably better. I wouldn't sleep on Berrio even though he's been TKOd 4 times. Still, Bute wins vs berrio in almost all certainty.
