How much of that $1,500,000 is he keeping? These guys need to keep a check of what they are ACTUALLY earning and walking away with.

 

Yeah, I think market value for that kind of fight would be around 500k. Most businesses can't afford to pay triple what their competitors do. I guess we should just enjoy PBC while it lasts because it may be closing up shop this time next year.

 

Haymon gets 15% of that as an adviser, or maybe more.
Still good money for Vanes until PBC crashes.

 

Wonder what Erilslandy's getting? I would be very surprised if it's less than 50 / 50 which would make it a $3 mil purse... just seems a bit on the high side. I like both guys but neither is really massively popular and the first fight... well - I hope they don't try to promote this by airing re-runs.:deal

As far as the business model there's no way for us to tell. Nobody in boxing has recently tried to monetize the sport using sponsorships and advertising like the UFC. Time will tell.

 

the fighters realize that they arent seeing all of that....trust me...they know how it works

at the same time when you start taking deductions out of a 1.5 mil check....its better than taking deductions out of a .5 mil check...ya know what im saying?

Exactly. I met Vanes 2x and saw him fight at Morongo Casino back when Friday Night Fights was cracking. Anyone who disputes that a fighter should get paid well is a bias sucker. What if your boss came to you and said, "well you worked hard today but I feel that the work you did was only worth $5 dollars."

Nobody in this post knocking VANES knocks GGG for getting millions to fight Monroe Jr. and that canadian nobody Lemuiex.( 97k proves he was a ****ing nobody, so don't try to argue.)

I agree that the PBC is over-paying their top guys, but they can't pay a top 10 LWW 1.5 mil, then turn around and pay a top 10 LMW/MW 500K.

Guys like Vanes are the heart and soul of this sport, and so long as they continue fighting the very best in their division, they need to be compensated accordingly.

If Vanes was fighting, say, Alcine or Zaveck, walkovers for Vanes even moreso than were Allakhverdiev, Theophane, Molina Jr, Taylor, Carlos Molina, or Malignaggi were for Broner, than SURE, 300-500K in a title defense, but this is a HIGH DEMAND rematch, and one that will CERTAINLY yield Haymon's best P4P fighter.

If Haymon wants to keep guys like Easter and Davis around, then he's gonna have to show them that they can earn that kindof jack when they become the type of A level guys like Vanes and Lara are. :good

 

150K+ vs Lemiuex and they exceeded their $8 budget for the card.

But on an ASIDE.....yes, Vanes is a TOP name in the sport, and should be comparably compensated. :good

 

It's not sustainable. Anyways, Gaymon paying his fighters is more like he's paying himself. Someone posted the amount he takes off. It's close to 25-28% or something. I forgot the specific number, though.

His little experiment is about to run dry soon anyways.
