Yeah I know, but AJ's chin might be just that bad, AJ seems shook up any time anyone lands anything, including Takam and Parker who landed glancing blows.
Turned down because HBO didn't have the money + they think Andrade is a boring fighter and would do poor ratings. HBO are a mess at the moment.
Vanes is hardly going to draw more ratings than a prime MW ranked on the Ring top 10 list. He got rejected because he's too good and it makes GGG look like a cherry picking ducker. Andre Ward would never have been allowed fight such a guy and i know that because i remember HBO turning down multiple names when he was looking for tune-ups after his lay off. They even rejected a fight with Kelly Pavlik before his lay off , and at least Pavlik was an active 168 pounder with impressive knockouts against a couple of bums. Vanes is a non-factor and wouldn't even get accepted as a Eubank Jr comeback opponent . This coddling by HBO is reflective of when they shielded him from Ward by running Ward up to 175 to face kovalev.
vanes imo he was jobbed against charlo not the best opponent but golovkin needs to fight and salka was a complete trash can and that's why Danny fought him lol
I dont think its as bad as Rod but thats splitting hairs... regardless... fighting vanes is unacceptably bad imo and its crazy to me that this legit is being considered.
I've never felt fulfilled after a VM fight just saying. Short notice i know but waste of time to watch imo. Vanes has 0% chance
I tuned into Garcia-Salka live cause it had that shark attack appeal We all know Vanes is gonna try and stink out the joint and likely just get prematurely stopped.. Meh I'll catch the highlights
I’m very impressed to see some guys are finally being honest with Team G’s antics. They should just drop the May 5th date altogether. This is inexcusable for a supposed FOTY/p4p # 1 fighter.
Indeed the Vanes fight won't do any better ratings. You and I and most other fans would prefer the Andrade fight. But: a) Vanes' purse demands are much lower than Andrade's. b) HBO have completely lost the plot. They also rejected Andrade vs Derevyanchenko because they don't like Andrade. He did terrible ratings vs Fox and they don't want him on HBO again.
One is a former champion, top world level opponent who has been active and currently competing at MW. The other is a conteder who has failed everytime he stepped up who has never fought above JrMW,whos last fight was a loss and has not fought in 2 years.
a former champion widely criticized by fans for his coddled nature and vulnerabilities(he also won it very controversially against Martirosyan) Andrade hasn't been particularly active in the last 2 years either fighting two times and looking poor in both instances - That being said inactivity aside Martirosyan isn't any worse than Andrade and arguably matches up better with Golovkin due to his durability and cageyness. As for him not being a legit MW? Andrade has only one match at the weight against an unproven prospect and he was dropped in that fight. Neither fight is great. There isn't a night and day difference between Martirosyan and Andrade as opponents. Fact.
What? -Andrade out landed Martirosyan by 120 punches. -Martirosyan has never competed at MW -Martirosyan's last fight was a loss -Martirosyan is 3-3 in his last six fights -Martirosyan has not fought in two years -Martirosyan only has 4 weeks to prep for GGG GGG fighting Martirosyan is worse than when he dragged Brook up 13 pounds and permanently damaged him. GGG is a bully.
All this anger and hate towards Golovkin. Where's the anger and hate towards Canelo? He was the one caught doping and ruined the fight...
Go check on the scene theres an interview with Andrade's manager I think HBO are done with Andrade because he rejected that fight both times. First time he said it was short notice 5 weeks camp, the 2nd time he said not enough money. The EE boy agreed both times. Did the IBF call for GGG and SD to start negotiations ? If not, how would they strip him ?
