Vanes Martirosyan vs Erislandy Lara

I need to see how Lara handles Grady Brewer before I speculate on this match up. I may be way off, but I have a feeling that B.B. is about to send one more young hopeful back to the proverbial drawing board. This is a HUGE step up in class for Lara, and if he ain't the real deal, Brewer will beat him senseless. At this point, if Lara beats Brewer, he probably gives Vanes all he can stand.

 

Hmm...this stage.

Vanes has taken on more live bodies than Lara...but Lara has looked great in all his fights. Tough to accurately make a judgement call until Lara fights Brewer as Boo has said.

 

I'm confident that Lara will spank that ass.

I agree with Boo, I won't vote until I see Lara fight Brewer who I believe will give Lara all he can handle.

 

I can't help but feel a bit of sympathy for Grady. He had a fight with Winky Wright until the promoter pulled the plug. Now he's fighting a 9-0 prospect. That has to be a huge disappointment.

Lara, Ouma to me clearly exposed Vanes, had that been Lara insted no doubt he would have beat him.

 

You cant jump the line on Lara saying he will beat Martisoyan


Vanes is a very good prospect. His best opponents were journeyman that he was favored to beat.
He fought the former 154 Champion, Ouma at one time was an awesome fighter.

He had a difficult fight and got a questionable decision. I personally didnt feel it was a robbery as some are making out

To say he got exposed seems rather stupid to me. Exposed as what?

A good prospect that needs fights against ranked opponents? We knew that already. That was the whole point of the Ouma fight, to see how he would do.

Despite his struggles with Ouma, he made it a close fight, win or lose.


Lara on the other hand has had 9 fights. NINE.


he has been fighting D-level tomato can fighters that have been brought in to lose.

Brewer is an enormous step up in class.


So I dont know. If Lara absolutely thrashes Brewer, I'll say he beats Vanes. That is the only scenario I'd say he beats Vanes. And that is a hell of a big IF

If he takes him decision, or struggles, then hell no he doesnt beat Vanes. Vanes has had 3 times as many fights he has.

 

Why? He's taking on a very talented prospect, but it's an opportunity for him. Now I don't think Brewer will win at all - and that's not my underestimating Brewer, I just think Lara is the real deal - but it's definately a chance for him to make a name for himself. If he somehow manages to beat Lara, he's right on the map.

 

Vanes looks very flat looted and doesn't have the upper body movements needed against a boxer like Lara. Lara is yet to really be tested but, from what i see, Lara has the skills to beat Vanes.
