What do you think of Vanes Martirosyan vs Jason Quigley? I doubt golden boy would put Quigley in with Lemieux because he punches to hard. Vanes is a good step up for Quigley because he just moved to 160lb. Golden boy fighter vs Don King fighter?
Why do even know how good or not Quigley is?genuine question as a casual fan I’ve heard of him now and then but couldn’t tell you one opponent of his lol. I mean is he another Taylor or does the eye tell you he’s average?Vanes actually is pretty decent with close fights against top guys albeit a few losses, unlike Canelo though he was bothered by the power of Golovkin or maybe just power of Middleweights.
Could be a great fight not unlike Taylor v Postal where the younger, less experienced guy gets thoroughly tested before pulling it off. I’m all for that kinda thing, nothing wrong with the slow game either but guys like Yard seem to go backwards, that said I did think Postal was too soon for Taylor.
I I’ve seen quigley in the gym and he looks green. Also hasn’t looked good in last two fights. I see vanes having to much for quigley right now.
To be honest I have missed his last few, and should check his latest fight before commenting. But I saw loads of his amateur fights where he went on a long unbeaten run and beat the likes of Ievgen Khytrov, Artem Chebotarev, Anthony Fowler etc , and his earlier pro fights, and find it hard to believe he's regressed as much as people are claiming.
Yep and usually if they really good someone will be onto em on here like the buzz around Taylor, been waiting for Quigley and Connlan to do something, anything as I’m betting they were snapped up on the back of the McGregor success or the Irish Psy Op lol. At some point he’s gonna have to fight an Andrade,Derevchenko and see what he’s got,not the end of the world if he gets beat as it looks like we finally moving away from that.
Good match up. Both would feel like they should be favoured. Pretty much a 50/50. Would slightly favour Quigley but with not much confidence. Quigley is bigger and fresher but he does seem to be struggling a tad atm though. Could still have injuries lingering? Quigley has a good skill set, throws good combinations and decent with both hands. He moves well around the ring, light on his feet. Seems to hold his hands a bit low at times and gets clipped pretty easily. He doesn't seem like a bloke who has a plan b either. Fighting a Vanessa is a good challenge, Vanessa is a tricky customer to beat. Vanessa is awkward, tough and throws a lot of punches. Could easily be too much if Quigley isn't quite ready for that level. Can't see a ko either way though
He struggled with Glen Tapia who coming from a 9 month layoff. Quigley meeds this fight to stay active and find his groove. He might not be the KO type of fighter that HBO was tryna force him to be but, thats why HBO quit the biz. They DKSAB.
