From Steve Kim's Twitter... Not a horrible fight, but I liked the other proposed co-feature (Mike Jones vs. Antwone Smith) much better.
The other fight was better but I'll take this. Glad to see Greene finally getting a chance after enduring a number of health and promotional issues. Hope he wins.
I hope Greene gets his ass kicked. I used to follow him. But all you need to do is to watch his last 5 fights and you'll see that he's nothing special. I'd go as far as saying that he's a bad boxer. He wastes more time in the ring running his mouth than actually fighting. Do that against Vanes, and I hope he does, you'll get your jaw busted. He interacts with his corner/family members more than he does his opponent. He'll actually turn and talk with them.... he'll disengage his opponent, try to prove a stupid point, and interact with his friends and family in his corner. Oh, and his friends and family never SHUT THE **** UP during the fight. More hootin' n' hollarin' than Great American Country Vol's 1-7. Also, Greene will punch himself off balance with his hooks. Thankfully for him the grade D quality of opponents he's been fighting haven't capitalized on it (or, unthankfully). I'm mean he'll throw himself out of position when he wings a hook. He'll miss regularly against a low quality opponent and throw himself off balance/out of position. He will get whooped in this fight.
I can see no way how you guys are picking Greene. Even in Greene's KO win over Okine was after looking like crap for the majority of the fight. Greene is not all that.
I agree with the first couple posters who would prefer Mike Jones v. Antwone Smith. I'm an especially big fan of Smith. Going from opponent to prospect as quick and impressively as he did doesn't happen very often in boxing today. However, this fight is no slouch either. It's a meaningful step up towards contender status for both of these prospects who are right at the end of their preparatory periods. To be honest, though, neither had looked especially fantastic in their recent efforts.
Vanes by KO. Plenty of the shots he landed flush on Ouma (the ones he sat down on) would finish Greene off. He may have improved since then, but Daryl freaking Salmon had him wobbly (and officially ruled knocked down, as he dragged his glove on the mat) with his first two punches. He certainly doesn't appear to have been in with much higher a class.
Greene is shorter, much shorter reach.... and when he throws straight punches he keeps his chin up and his head high up on his shoulders. That's terrible form. Vanes will punch right over that jab and beat the hell out of Greene.
