Got to say i am quite looking forward to this one. It was definitely a good addition to the Cotto/Foreman card. Living in England I haven't been able to see much of these two fighters, only on youtube and i have caught Vanes' last two. Both undefeated with a lot to lose. I think Vanes is the favourite, but i have never seen Greene box so i am asking you guys what you think!
I don't know exactly what to think at this point. I was really high on Vanes before the Ouma fight. I thought Ouma won, and made Vanes look far from world class.
Unfortunately that is one of two fights i have seen him in, and i thought the same thing.. Ouma managed to knock him down aswell. He always beams confidence on his facebook page and talkes about how good his sparring has been etc.,but when i saw that fight i was really disappointed. Part of my wants Greene to school him for this reason.
If Ouma had decent punching power, Vanes would not have seen the final bell. If I compare that fight to some other "step-up" fights, I do not like what I see. Taylor/Marquez, Pavlik/McKart, Dirrell/Hanshaw, for example, those guys took care of business. Martyrosian did not.
mean joe will kick his ass he's in another class alltogether the knock on him is that he hasnt active lately due to promotional problems
Mean Joe was a top prospect before those kidney stones probably a blessing seeing as he was in against Martinez. I think he will give Vanes a lot of trouble at least. Not sold on Vanes either gets a lot of hype for someone who has done so little
The Ouma fight was a wake up call. He doesn't get much hype since then. Trust me -- I know -- I was one of the guys hyping him before that.
Hopefully the Ouma fight kicks Vanes into gear, i've been a Greene fan since the Klitchko Vs Ibragimov fight and I'm just glad to see him getting a break after so long out and off the TV. Looks a great undercard fight anyway :good
I actually think Vanes has a chance to beat Joe even KO him. I think he learned his lesson. With the help of Freddie Roach, Vanes could beat him. Vanes by KO mid rounds
