Good posts, another factor not being considered is this is a top rank card and vanes is a top rank fighter. So close rounds will go to vanes, Lara will have to press the action be more active and win clear rounds or get the tko or he might be losing a decision In A Technical Battle

I have Erislandy winning this one. Vanes is a very good opponent. I just dont think he has enough to get past the ring smarts and skill level of Lara. Erislandy told me that he would win in every aspect of the fight. I surely hope he does.

I think Lara will spend his career being "under whelming" in terms of pure excitement, but that doesnt mean he's not entertaining to the purists

With ref to me stating Vanes will press, i think he'll press because he will be forced to press, a little like Dawson felt he had to press Ward, why?? because Ward has superior timing (amongst other things), Vanes is quick, granted............. his speed derives from his hand speed whereas Lara's comes from timing and execution

From what I've seen, Vanes had good timing with counters too. And he's dangerous enough with his power that if he lands a good shot he may make Lara too tenative.

If that's the case Vanes could win on workrate and body shots while Lara is covering up.

I don't think Lara is on the same level as Ward. Lara doesn't really impress me on the inside.

Ward is more tactical, and he won't put himself in a position where he covers up and take shots.

Another thing, Lara doesn't have a great right hook. He's more of a left straight, left uppercut style of fighter.

If he doesn't develop his right hook, I don't think he'll have enough weapons to keep Vanes from implementing his gameplan.

Who knows, maybe he'll bring it with him to this fight, but I don't see it.

And again the fact that he covers up gives Vanes too many opportunities to slip punches through his guard and go to the body and make Lara desperate.

Hey, maybe they're right or maybe Lara will just be another guy on the highlight reel.

More bragging rights for the few picking the nightmare.. I'm on 50/50 leaning a bit towards Lara.

Vanes rightfully should have lost against Ouma. Lara is going to embarrass and stop him.

When presented he took the fight Immediately Lara took 3 weeks. Nightmare didn't hesitate one bit...which was weird after ducking angulo no one thought he would sign for Lara.

Angulo is an aggressive pressure fighter like Ouma. Vanes likes room to opperate.

Lara will give him that room.

Yes. PWs power was always overrated even at 147. Vanes has solid power at 154. He does not put the PW type of pressure but his physical presence is still good.

I disagree, before getting KO by Maravilla , PW gave Martinez a pretty close and hard fight.Im not ruling out vanes but who has beaten so far to say he's better than Williams?.
Vanes is a tough fight-there's is a reason why GBP has ignored his mandatory spot to face Canelo.
