    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He was in camp with longtime coach Edmond Tarverdyan (whose main focus is MMA, but is widely considered the worst high-profile trainer - or at least most notorious for bungled game plan - in that sport) as recently as last week, hoping despite promotional logjams to land a date with anybody ranked to shoehorn himself into contention...

He should not retire, he is to good of a fighter just has a bad promoter in King. He can win a belt at 154lb. He needs to sign with Hearn just to stay active, maybe buyout his contract if he can with King.

He's fought once in, what, two and a half years? Got blown out. Fell short on all his biggest fights. Solid operator, though. Not sure what realistic goal he might have. Don King's easy to blame, but perhaps Vanes and his camp are difficult or, at the very least, have also guided and made poor decisions for his career. Because he has gotten the shots with an audience.

He needs to sign with Hearn, or Goldenboy. He used to be with Top Rank and Haymon. He just needs to get fights 2 or 3 fights to stay active, the maybe fight Munguia.

It's bad for him that he only managed to last two (incomplete) rounds versus Golovkin. Now he can't be put against young title prospects who will automatically "look bad" for not being able to get rid of him faster than ggg...
So, it's very sad, but it could be the case that he's not needed in pro boxing anymore... :ohno

Seems ridiculous that Liam Smith can call himself a a former world champ and Vanes can't though right?

2019 and there are still fighters promoted by Don King.. Thats just sad. But they really have to blame theirself, it was already 20 years ago clear thing that you don't do business with King.

Vanes Martirosyan announces retirement on his twitter account. He says he is not getting any younger. Wish he would fight Munguia, Vanes is only 32 years old. He will now train fighters. This is sad i wish he could have won a title.

Does this mean he’s stuck with King and can’t get out of a contract?im sure if Hearn was prepared to sign Fonfara with multiple losses he would sign Vanes who’s fought some decent opponents over the years.

I believe he cant get fights. All the top 154lb are with Haymon. I would be great if Hearn can sign him, he's still a really good fighter. Hearn can keep him active( 3 fights a year). I know he can beat Munguia.
