They once belong to the creme of the top at one point in their careers but definitely not enough for a HOF status.

For now . . . they are just exciting fighters that's all.

Fernando beat Quartey and Wright and performed valiantly against Trinidad, De La Hoya and Mosley so he deserves consideration especially if he beats Mayorga who himself hasn't done enough to merit entry.

i voted yes, because mayorga imo at least deserves to be there for being the 'real' welter weight champion. he also held a title at super welter and performed valiantly in losing efforts. vargas i'm not to sure, but i say he gets in some time in the future a few years after his elligibility. hell if there considering gatti for the HOF then mayorga deserves to be in too.

I don't think so...Mayorga, if he beats Vargas, will have beaten Forrest twice, Vargas, Piccirillo, Lewis, and Mitchell. Despite becoming a 2 time champ in 2 weight classes, he would fall well below Hall of Fame status. Vargas, if he beats Mayorga, would have a much better case, beating Mayorga, Wright, Quartey, Castillejo, Marquez, Rivera, and Campas and also being a two time champion. I voted no though.

Definitely not Mayorga. All he has done is beat Forrest. Vargas.....maybe.

i agree. mayorga beating forrest was impressive but more a matter of mayorga intimidating the **** out of him the first time. the second fight was much closer. as for vargas, he SHOULD have been a lock but he's screwed up way too many times in big fights. he barely beat wright and quartey is his only real, high quality win. skills alone don't get you in...course gatti is a lock but well, he's gatti

if people think gatti is deserving of the HOF, then so is mayorga and vargas.

No, but it's not like the HOF has the highest standards anyway.

Regardless, fighters like Samuel Serrano, Brian Mitchell, Donald Curry, and Marlon Starling all deserve to get in there first, before the likes of Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga.

Both fighters need a couple more big wins for either one of to make the hall, but I dought it will happen though.
