Muscle mass weighs a lot more than fat. If you're not putting on just tons of belly fat, a lot of it forms with your muscle mass. I'm 6" and have been up to 260 (I blame tons of beer). I've always been muscular and looked less fat than people who I outweighed by 30 pounds. In good shape I'm 200. If I run every day, I could get down to 180.

A lot of it is how your frame is made. I'm built pretty wide at the chest and shoulders. Vargas has a real stout build, too. I can fully believe he was 260 in the Alpha Dog pics. He had to sauna down to get to 154, burning out every bit of water weight. He walked in the ring around 170, after being weight drained. Vargas is a big dude, even though he's short.

Also, like Vargas, I love tamales and churros. They make you fat QUICK.

264 may be a bit of an exagerration. For this to be true, he would have gained 100 + pounds between the second Mosley fight and January.

The sad thing is he is only 29 and he is still an active boxer. What is he going to look like when he turns 40 and is no longer exercising. Same goes to James Toney.

He does train for every fight. If you watched his training you would see he has a pretty intense training, but what is he going to look like 5 years from now when he is no longer an active boxer, he certainly wont go to the gym to train anymore.

Last time I saw Fernando I did tell him those lunches with James Toney would do him no good whatsoever...

From an article on the Mayorga-Vargas press conference:

The room was packed with media, and all went well until the trash-talking Mayorga approached the podium and Vargas immediately removed his sunglasses. Vargas initially maintained his composure while Mayorga repeatedly referred to him as “fatty” as well as other terms not normally deemed acceptable in public company.

Damn Vargas, when you eat more than most third world countries, you have a little problem there.

That's about 20 pounds more than Wlad or Lennox Lewis on a good night.
